 I like X-Country because I have a lot of flat country to cross.
 It gets me in the woods silently, deer and other critters aren't
 scared off the way they are when someone sitting on a motor comes
 roaring through.  Great for photography, you can slide in, sit in a
 clump of brush for a few minutes and everything goes back to natural.

 Well I have a nice set of K2's in the basement, and a brand new never
 skied on pair of boots.   My last outing was over in Vermont at Stow
 where I did a little extra hard stressing on the skis jumping off a
 high rock.  Darn boot shattered at that point.  So I skied the rest of
 the hill on one ski dragging the other like a rudder.  Bought new boots
 when I got home, but for some reason never went again.

 Out your way, I skied over near Calgary to make sure the courses were
 of Olympic quality before they had their Olympics.  But the best part
 was Banff where I stayed. The hot pool on the side of the hill after a
 day on the slopes was great, followed up with a few beers at the bar
 half way back down to town, then the pizza joint at the bottom.  Whoa,
 that was fun times.  My 24 year old son and I went there together.
 We had the greatest of times.

 ->  I have a Mountain Bike with a large Cloud Nine seat on it.  Really
 ->  like it.  We do a lot of off road stuff.   Great fun, good exercise
 ->  and for bird watching or picture taking the only way to get back in
 ->  the trails without scaring everything away..

 That's the name of it.  My bike is sprung in the middle so the back
 wheel is always in contact with the ground in rough terrain.  No
 spinning while peddling in rutted rough areas.  That great but the seat
 comes up and whacks you in the rear at times.  Those skinny little
 seats they put on bikes today make the impact unpleasant.   So I bought
 a seat larger than the ones they used to put on bikes long ago, well
 padded and super comfortable.  Set me back almost as much as I paid for
 the bike, but worth it.  In bike shops, it's name is "Cloud Nine."  :)

 Oh my I would love to do that Hap.  How about while we are over there,
 we take a cruise down the Rhine through wine country on a barge with a
 fancy chef doing the meals.
