Hi Carol,

 > I had a "glitch" for a few days so haven't seen it. I don't know if
 > Steve has sent anything in the line of ideas & hint he has picked up
 > from several years of smoking stuff.

CS> Not sure but I've slipped to 1,000 behind again. Planning to speed
 CS> read some up today.

I'm trying to catch up a couple of day's mail, pack to leave tomorrow
morning, do my usual Monday sutff, etc, etc. (G)

 > CS> comfy to play on the computer, I read books in bed.

 > I've been trying to weed thru our accumulation of magazines--getting
 > ready for moving. Trouble is, I'll get sidetracked into reading
 > interesting articles......................

CS> I was trying to get more books out the the garage and kept grabbing
CS> interesting ones to set in the bedroom for next read. Now, I have
CS> stacks of books moved from the garage to the bedroom. A few f them
CS> seem to have grown feets in the night and wandered into Charlotte's
 CS> room ;-)

As long as they find their way back to your room, I guess it won't hurt.
We should sort our books again before moving; if we will or not remains
to be seen.

 > CS> Cash came up with 3 methods.

 > CS> And the best one:
 CS> >
 > CS> 3. Get Daisy-cat to help by sitting on one end and he rolls to the
 > CS> other (she's 12lbs, enough to anchor it). Snaps right open!
 CS> >
 > Did you ever get pictures of it?

CS> Naw, we probvably shold use the camera more, but as usual we have to
CS> find it and things like that happen too fast.

I know; we never got any video of Sam and Deborah "singing" duets but
we do have the memories.

 > > CS> ;-) We all change. I'm no where near the chile camp some of the

 > > I know; I eat stuff hotter than I did years ago. But, then, too, I've

CS> Supposed to be good for asthma right?

Supposed to be, if you don't have any so hot you can't breathe--like
Steve in the Chinese place the Thursday night you missed.

 > CS> Not often, no. Chile can be hot there, but it's often not a flavorful
 > CS> hot, just 'hot to prove manlyness hot' sort of thing.
 CS> >
 > I've not yet encountered any hot chili here; thinking about it, no chili

CS> Found usually at cookoffs where the guys are the competitors. It's

And those are usually Sundays when we have other priorities.

CS> nothing to worry about missing. Fairly inedible hot glop. Do however
 CS> try the
CS> 'sothern chili' if you see it. Thats very different. Not usually all
CS> that hot, but very flavorful and lots of healthy veggies (not just
CS> tomatoes). Purists won't call it chili but it is. These are old time
CS> farmer's recipes made to stretch meat out with the garden surplus,
CS> mostly using home canned veggies. My own recipe stems from it but
CS> didnt have the canned veggies, which truth to tell, shine *better* in
 CS> that recipe than fresh!

Sounds sort of what one of my sisters makes.

CS> Take whatever base chili recipe you make, and add 1/2 cup veggies per
CS> every 2 cups base. Cauliflour, yellow and green squash, green beans,
CS> etc. Never the same twice but always good.

We'd have to come up with a different name; chili is something unique.
Adding all the veggies makes it different, but not chili.

CS> Hehe wierd but good. I grew up on that kind of chili and it was one
CS> of the first dishes I mastered and later, one of the earliest MM'ed
 CS> for others.

More like a thick, spiced veggie & meat soup or stew from your
description.

 > > The wasabi is an interesting taste. The nuts Gail brought to the picnic

 CS> >
 > CS> I like those too but the ones at the table were milder than I am used
 > CS> to. Not bad, just milder than I got accustomed to. The wasabi paste
 > CS> was just right.

CS> Those wasabi peas do remind me of ones at the bar in Darwin. They had
CS> a tumeric shaker by them and folks would add that to a small plate and
CS> roll them around in them. Only saw them come out once, but they were
 CS> good!

Sounds interesting. We've had the wasabi peas from time to time, never
bought any but had them while out. I guess we'll have to buy some and
try adding tumeric.

 > I'm not as used to wasabi as other versions of heat. So far tho, I've
 > been able to deal with it without problem.

CS> It's different but just as adaptable. I dont use it all that often,
CS> but when it suits a dish, it's always added <g.>.

I can see why, especially after 6 years in Japan. (G)

 > CS> Same stuff. I dont have a bottle of it here yet. I keep meaning to
 > CS> get one then keep forgetting.
 CS> >
 > You'll remember sooner or later. (G) This may jog your memory.

CS> Yup! Bet next trip I remember it.

Most likely you will.

 > CS> It isnt all that different from the 'korean sauce' you heard me
 > CS> mention getting every trip to Korea.
 CS> >
 > Gotcha.

CS> I used to cut that with russian red salad dressing to make it work for
 CS> Charlot te.

Does she still like it that way or "straight" now?
