None.  I know this might be hard for some of you to believe, but 
because we buy lobster on sale sort of regularly, I don't automatically
jump at a deal like that.

Cooked and shucked, it freezes very well.  Canned lobster meat is
generally sold frozen, and we can always find frozen lobster meat at
the supermarket (for like $21 a pound, so guess what I always leave
in the freezer case? [g])

HN> Is there a "sport" lobster fishery as well
HN> as the commercial one?

No, although in Maine there are lobstermen who allow tourists the
privelege of paying to work on a lobster boat.  Lobstering is 
strictly regulated, and there are few shoreline lobster grounds not
already licensed.  Lobstermen have territories, it isn't like sport
fishing.

HN> I'll bet that would be fun!

It's not.  It's hard and exhausting work and involves 55-gallon drums
of rotted fish spooned into traps with a ladle, setting and hauling 
heavy traps, pissed-off crustaceans which not only have the ability 
to crush the bones in your hands but are more than willing to do so,
wetness, cold, and pain.

You know what, though?  It would be grand and wonderful for some of
the obnoxious tourists to spend a day on a lobster boat so they'd
know what the fishermen go through.  Maybe then they'd quit bitching
about the price of the bugs they only eat half of.
