My, we're on a roll today.

Seldom does a combination of ingredients result in something
either greater than or less than the sum of the parts. When
it happens, in either direction, it's notable. That's to say,
on other words, L I B (not).

No, as my guilt is either nonexistent or long-term.

If I were to try, say, to replicate the experience of the nouveaux
riches of Shanghai and mix Coca-Cola with their Chateau Margaux,
I'd either do the experiment on the teaspoon level and feel no
qualm whatever, or do it in a highball glass with ice and then
feel sick to my stomach whenever I saw either Coca-Cola or Chateau
Margaux, forever.

      Title: Japanese Pickled Cauliflower Coca-Cola
 Categories: Pickles, Preserve, Japanese
      Yield: 1 servings

      1 md Cauliflower, separated into       1/2 c  Celery, very thinly sliced
           Flowerets, washed, and            3/4 c  COCA-COLA
           Drained                             6 tb Wine vinegar OR
      1    Green bell pepper, washed,               White vinegar
           Cored, seeded, and cut into       1/4 c  Sugar
           2-in strips                     1 1/2 ts Salt
           Water, boiling

  In a large bowl, combine the cauliflower flowerets and bell pepper strips.
  Cover with boiling water.  Let stand for 2 minutes; drain thoroughly. Add
  the celery.

  In a small pan, heat the Coca-Cola, wine/white vinegar, sugar, and salt.
  Pour over vegetables.  Toss lightly with a fork, and pack into 1-quart
  glass jars.  Push down lightly so the liquid covers the vegetables. Cover
  and chill overnight.  This keeps in the refrigerator for several days.
