ML> comfy chair to stagger to. I'd only (only) had a bottle and half
ML> of wine, but I was jet-lagged, having traveled 15000 miles that
 ML> week.
NB> Yeah... factors such as jet-lag, dehydration, etc can affect, too. :)

I drink so little water, even on planes. I don't generally do
dehydration - the system is just used to it, I guess. Of course,
that makes my blood numbers looks suspicious.

NB> I heard tell that some of the first in line were displaced upstate New
NB> Yorkers, who had been missing their Wegmans frightfully... :) But
NB> that everyone else quickly found out why said displacees had been so
NB> little content with the options up-to-then... I know that when my kid
NB> was in college in Philly-area that he suddenly realized that what he
NB> thought was normal was REALLY hard to find... (G)

Amazing what one gets used to. Both ways. Sometimes, when I've
been immobile for whatever reason, I have managed to scrape
together meals of reasonable palatability, provided I have
onions. And even then, sometimes dried will do the trick.
The selection at Weggie's really does spoil you, though.

=

ML> aesthetic. Also, the laxative and diuretic effect from eating
ML> the plant. I was amused when one of the local fancy restaurants
ML> served dandelion bacon onion salad for something like $10 as an
ML> appetizer. (I ordered it, though - it was good.)
NB> And did it also have adverse effects (or were they desired?)?

Not only do I not get dehydrated, I don't get constipated, either.
Actually, all green vegetables have that particular effect on me.

NB> Interesting. At RIT, it was usually the other way... at least among
NB> the ones I knew well. The one that kept strictest Kosher was an EE
NB> major, who ended up working at Kodak as an engineer.

Funny. I don't know any doctors or engineers who keep Kosher.

ML> if I were about to be mugged, I'd run away, cane or no cane,
ML> pulled muscle or no pulled muscle. There are good reasons for
 ML> fight or flight.
NB> And adrenaline (temporarily) fixes quite a few ails to enable fight or
NB> flight... One could, of course, use the cane as a defense... :)

I wouldn't have been able to swing a cane for want of a good
solid push-off. Don't know about the Seinfeld character, though.

ML> Meanwhile, I did in fact reinjure it again, only not so badly:
ML> I was walking down the sidewalk in the dark and fell into a hole,
ML> and I'm surprised all the healing didn't get undone, but only a
ML> little bit. But this seems to indicate that I'm getting better in
 ML> general.
NB> Glad you are getting better in general... and that the mishap didn't
NB> undo it all. The cane might not have prevented that fall, either.

As I don't see my feet too clearly even in daylight, falling
into holes is not unheard of at nighttime. Once long ago I
was walking along a path by a river, having taken the midnight
train home after a concert. Fell into a humongous sinkhole - had
the reflexes to through the viola up and out as I fell. That
sucker was many feet deep (I didn't hit bottom because after
throwing the instrument I lunged for the lip of the hole, but
the thing was taller than me; there was no danger, as there was
dirt at the bottom, but it took several moments of desperate
clawing to get me out of there). That was the most spectacular
of my many acquaintances with pits!
