Proper comeupance...  :)  And after all, the one was short enough to
meet his standards (but of course has such* a bad rep), and the other
has bonuses of its own...   <G>   He should have just accepted the
original weed and slightly longer grass...  ;)

Maybe they moved on also?  We had a neighbor once that couldn't stand
the lack of decorum in our plantings (mostly either had come with the
house, or were fortuitous "bird-plantings", although I did put in bulbs
and annuals for a while).  His idea of proper was to pull out all the
bushes around his house, and have country club greens as well...  He
turned us in a few times to the city for tall grass and weeds... the
last time we got cited, I got mad, and called the inspector's supervisor
to come out and check it out.  The grass had been kept mowed well within
spec, and the "weeds" were our berry bushes and my gardens...  The
supervisor agreed with me... and we haven't had any trouble that way
since.  :)

BTW, I made up a little "mess" for lunch recently that you might be
interested in... (G)   I mixed a 6 oz can of salmon (skinless/boneless
in water, drained) with maybe a third of a container of ricotta (16oz
whole milk, so a little more than a half cup?) into which I had added a
few good shakes of cayenne pepper, probably 1/4 tsp or more... the
ricotta was almost as pink as the salmon...  ;)  It was about the
consistency of a pate', and had a nice zing to it.  :)   I ate it
straight, but it could be served with crackers or on bread.
