Ärende: Good news!
==================
Hi Carol,

 > Thanks for catching my math mistake. Looks like I wrote that one just
 > before I left out for LV so was busy doing 50 million & 1 things.

CS> It's ok. Steve caught it later but you may not have seen it. He's
 CS> 65% like me.

Yes, and that will be a nice help in years to come.

 > CS> hit the 20 year increment increase and so on. At 23, I hit the 24
 > CS> year increase and will have that all my last 3.

 > Steve only delayed his entry by a couple of months. He enlisted in
 > February, 83 and went active in April.

 CS> I delayed entry in May82 and entered in May83. I'm a month behind
CS> Steve in some ways and 9 months ahead in others. It works out that
CS> I'll get a little more than Steve, but not much. I suspect about 25$
CS> a month more as they pro-rate both of our 'high 3'. Oh, might be
CS> more. Depends on when Steve got paid for E8. I made that earlier than
CS> him if i recall right so was paid all my last 3 at E8 pay. If some of
CS> his last 3 were E7 pay, it will average in with the higher years.

Steve pinned on his E8 effective 1 January, 2005 so his high 3 will be
based on all years as an 8. We made sure he stayed in long enough to
get that. He found out last week that the RCP (retention control point)
was moved to 29 years for E8s so he could stay on longer, if he wanted.
He has until the end of the month to formally decide but we've already
decided to go ahead with plans to retire in April.

CS> The way they do it is to actually average the base pay for 36 months,
CS> then you get 65% of that. If I get more than Steve, it will be due to
CS> 1) more delay entry making those longevity increases kick me higher by
CS> a year earlier and 2) may have made E8 earlier so all my 3 are paid at
CS> that level (got paid as E8 about June 2001 so when they caluculate me,
 CS> it's May 2006-May2009).

 CS> Steve will be APR2006-APR2009.

No problem, as you saw above.

CS> Hehe it was a play on words on how the retirement stuff goes.

As in we'll need canes? (G) I use one already. Most of the time I
don't really need it but it's a good prop up if I'm on my feet too long.
Makes it a bit awkward going thru a buffet line at times but I'm
handling things fairly well.

CS> Gone to TAP yet? Need to now if havent! Go with Steve or go separate
 CS> if you need to.

Steve went the week I came back from Nevada; I probably won't go.

We went on a chaplain's sponsored marriage retreat up at Hilton Head
Island this past week end. Saturday night was supposed to be date
night; we went to a nice Italian place. Steve had an osso bucco made
with a veal shank & parmesan rissoto--the meat was falling off the bone
tender. I had a veal margarita dish--veal with artichoke hearts,
prosciutto and mushrooms in a lemon bernaise sauce over linguine. It was
as good as the steak oscar I'd had the night before. We split a cannoli
for dessert--the freshest one we've probably ever had. Instead of herbs
in the dipping olive oil, there was parmesan reggiano cheese. The herbs
are better in the oil in our opinion but it was an interesting taste.

Catch you later,
