Unfortunately my teeth suffered from a period of 7 years working as a
Public Servant in the Commonwealth Dept of Works in what was then the
Australian Territories of Papua and New Guinea.  Twice a day an elderly
"tea-boy" brought cups of sweet "tea or coffee" (I never worked out
which it was supposed to be) and sweet biscuits to our desks.  As this
was pre-fluoridation, decay was inevitable.  The quality of dental care
available was not high, so teeth deteriorated.  I had already smashed a
couple of front teeth on a windscreen wiper motor in a minor pre-seat
belt car crash 40 years ago, and the repair of that particular damage
has now failed.

Even there, in the tropics, the generally high humidity helps to give
some protection. Southern and central Australia is where the world's
highest rates of skin cancer occur.  In my youth, getting sunburnt was
considered a normal part of life.  Now part of every child's school
uniform is a wide-brimmed hat, with a severe reprimand if it is not
worn when out in the sun.

BTW, where in the South Pacific have you been?  I've spent time in a
few corners of that vast, lightly populated area.

What is even more desirable and Christmas-enhancing would be the
ability to gnaw bones and eat toast and apples.

 ->  -> injections; I prefer to feel the drill, so I know what is happening.

 -> When the burnt-bone smelly smoke starts to curl out of my mouth I like
 -> to know if he is overheating the tooth, rather than burning the nerve

Thankyou!  :)  Just try to imagine the problems your poor dentist faces
in trying to cut around that broken drill to remove it while still
leaving enough of the tooth left to justify rebuilding, and be sorry
for him.  It will probably take him hooouuurrs.
