Probably started in his deployment; most all of the newer MREs come with
a little bottle of tabasco sauce. Most of them need it (or better) to
make the entree a bit more edible.  I understand that during Operation
Desert Shield, a lot of those bottles were refilled with sand and sent
back home--sort of made you wonder if the desert would run out of sand.
(G)  Once Desert Storm started, there wasn't time to do that any more.
We had some sand in the package Deborah sent us but Rachel's had a lot
more--stuff that just drifted into the box while waiting to be sealed up
and sent.

Most of the guys in Deborah's unit thought they were macho and could
take the heat of the sauce but were brought up rather short, including
her CO.  One guy thought it was on the mild side but admitted it was
because he'd been raised in India and he was used to eating super spicy
things.  We had a request for more but didn't have the time before they
redeployed home to send any.
