Bearing in mind that my situation was caused by physical necessity
rather than economic, moral, or lifestyle choice. Were I put behind
the wheel that steered tons of unfriendly metal, it would only be
a matter of time before I killed or maimed someone (my father's
record - he maimed a few but killed none, even the bicyclist).

Lancia used to be a very fancy brand, Fix It Again Tony
notwithstanding. About 30 years ago there was a bridge
competition (contract, not building) whose prize was 5
Lancia Beta coupes ... it pitted the American Precision
team against the Italian Blue team. The Americans won,
and it was considered the one of the greatest upsets in
the history of competitive sports - in a contest for one
of the greatest prizes. I sometimes wonder what happened
to Alan Sontag and Peter Weichsel.

It's interesting to see a sizable proportion of the echo having
spent substantial time without an automobile, and in places
more hostile to that abstemiousness than where I have lived.

CARBOHYDRATE-FREE NACHOS
cat: carb-free, starter
servings: 6

1 lb ground beef
1 pk taco seasoning mix
pork rinds
shredded nacho cheese
chopped jalapenos (optional)

Brown ground beef in a skillet; drain and stir in (dry) taco
seasoning mix. Place pork rinds in a single layer on a plate.
Cover the rinds with the meat mixture, then the shredded nacho
cheese. Sprinkle jalapenos over the top, if using.

Microwave for 1 min or until cheese is melted.

Note from source: The seasoned meat helps you forget the
refried beans. And you don't have to use jalapenos if you
don't like them that hot. Or you can toss on Tabasco or
low carb salsa.
