Nope, no carrier. In my entire Navy enlistment I was never assigned to a ship.
This was at Naval Air Station, Memphis (Millington) Tennessee. And the termac
was bog-standard asphalt/rock paving. The quantity of O2 still in liquid form
was (had to be) very small.

I was in my electronics shop fixing a navagitional radar when the incident
happened and it rattle the windows of the building right smart. I thought one
of the armourers had managed to detonate a small bomb whislt arming a plane for
a training mission (they used to bomb the hell out of this small island in the
middle of the Mississippi river).

The O2 was to supply breathing oxygen to the pilot and the radar/commo operator
(located in the fuselage) of the aircraft. The bottle wasn't all that big and
LOX was used (I was told) because the bottle and its attendant equipment was
smaller and weighed less than the equivalent cylinder(s) of compressed O2 and
its distribution system.

There was quite a bit of armour plating on those old AD-1D Skyraiders as they
were used for multiple missions including "close air support" ... meaning air
to mud gunfire, rockets and bombs, strafing enemy positions, etc. So, they
would take a lot of small arms fire from mudfeet of the enemy pissed at being
shot at.

http://tinyurl.com/skyraider for a brief (Boeing version) of the Skyraider.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

Title: White Bean & Sausage Stew W/Broccoli
Categories: Beenz, Pork, Vegetables, Stews, Pasta
      Yield: 4 servings

      1 ts Olive oil
      2 Italian sausages; casings
           - removed, sliced 1" thick
      1 Leek; halved lengthwise,
           - cleaned, thin sliced
      2 Carrots; peeled, in thin
           - half moons
     28 oz Can chicken broth
      1 c Water
      1 c Small macaroni
           Florets from 1 large stalk
           - broccoli; cut in 1/4"
           - slices
     14 oz Can cannellini beans;
           - drained, rinsed
           Fresh ground pepper & salt
           Sliced French bread

To save a little time, chop the leeks and carrots while the
sausage browns, then chop the broccoli while the broth comes
  to a boil.

Heat the oil in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the
sausage and brown well on all sides, about 8 minutes. Don't
worry if the sausage isn't cooked through in the center.

After browning the sausage, remove it from the pan with a
slotted spoon and set aside. Add the leek and carrots and
reduce heat to medium. Saute until wilted slightly, about
  5 minutes.

Add the broth and water to the pan, cover and bring to a
boil over high heat. Stir in the macaroni and the broccoli
and cook for about half of the macaroni's cooking time on

its package instructions. At that point add the beans and
sausage. Return to a simmer and cook until the macaroni is
al dente and the sausage is thoroughly cooked.

If the stew doesn't have enough liquid for your taste, add
more water and turn heat on high to heat through.

Season well with pepper and salt, if needed, ladle into
bowls and serve immediately with the bread.

  Serves 4
