Hi Carol,

 > CS> Yes. A densish bread cake that can be heated on the road when
 > CS> traveling comes to mind. The sort I am thinking of is risen slightly
 > CS> with baking soda and coated on top with honey and molasis.

 > Sounds like the descriptions I've read of it. It can also be a corn
 > meal cake if I understand correctly.

CS> Yes, can be. Often with same type topping.

I've never had any by those names but could have eaten somethng similar.

 > I'd like the pasta maker and ice cream maker attachments but will have
 > to save up my pennies for them.

CS> No use for eithr here. Just the grinder and sausage stuffer parts. I
CS> may get a grinder (electric) one day. Thats all I really need
CS> afterall. The manual one is nice but sometimes i want more
CS> flexibility or a larger batch tha n is easy to do with it.

Plus an electric one is easier on you physically. Can you imagine the
arm & shoulder aches with a large batch?

 CS> (white flour)

 > CS> Actually, BJ's. Often cheaper there for quite a few things.

 > But not available here.

CS> Got a Sam's club? Same thing really.

I know; my parents have a BJ's near them. I've been to Sam's and Costco
but don't have any sort of membership in any. We've talked about it
over the years but never did for any of them. There was a similar thing
(Maxx Club) in Sierra Vista for a few years; we joined, I think, one
year. Got my first bred machine from them.

 > CS> We always do lots of gifts, many of them practical. Many small things
 > CS> to open up etc.

 > Reminds me of the time while we were in Germany and both girls were in
 > Girls Scouts, but at different levels. We got them uniforms one year for
 > Christmas; Steve insisted I wrap each component separately. I did, then
 > "towered" the packages.

CS> Charlotte has lots of clothes in the batch. Don and i always do that.
CS> Food gifts too will go in the stockings.

We're not doing any food gifts for each other. I did make some fudge
and truffles (Steve rolled those) as well as some cookies for nibbles.

 > > And how does her mom feel about it?

 > CS> Dunno!

 > Either accepting or "why did you do that to my recipe?". (G) I had a

CS> I suspect they treat it as something new and only vaguely related.

Probably so.

 > someone else's recipe & forgot how it was done. So, I gave her my

CS> I do that too and got a load of ground beef just 2 days ago to make
 CS> some up with.

Sounds like Charlotte will be in meat ball heaven. (G)

 > > Nice to have that kind of connection, especially since you're staying in

 > CS> Not really but she has said a few new things are coming in soon.

 > Seasonal items?

CS> Might be, but she's mostly dried goods that do not spoil. Long
CS> shipping times and all that.

Yes, that's always a consideration.
