though one might think that retrofitting the birds to be
relatively safer might be a good idea.

That's okay if you believe (as with Syms Department Store) in
educating your customer. Not perhaps quite so okay if the bar
owner, who is interested in the till, is standing next to you.

Enquiring minds need to know: did she pay for the drink? Did
she tip you?
