me say

->
No she didn't. Janis did it all on her own! (ducking)
(Quack)

-> > It sounds like the preservatives and or chemicals are the culprit

-> That's what I came to think.. I know I don't use any pesticides, bug
killers or
-> whatnot, or additives in my garden. Just lots of peatmoss <grin>..Geez,
I
-> hardly water my garden sometimes (grin). But that's just out of having
days
-> when "things don't work", and I know you know what I mean :)

I haven't had a garden in a few years. Right at the moment I'm having a
hard time with steps, so going after weeds is right out anyway.

-> Understand.. haven't looked at the price of dog food at the health food
store
-> yet.. I know what IAMs cost though... The problem is, if Priscilla

You don't want to. The thing is, my cats won't eat the cheap junk, but
also won't touch some of the high end stuff.

-> lose some major weight soon, she WON'T fit through the dog door which is

I'm just
-> thinking about it.. For us, though, the price of organic vegetables is
probably
-> not much more (or the same) than we'd have to pay at Wegman's in their
-> "organic" section.. It might even be cheaper, because we get really good

That I don't doubt; organics can be expensive no matter what.

-> discounts at the health food store if we buy 'a lot' of stuff.. this
week we
-> got a Christmas 15% discount on anything we bought with a coupon they
mailed
-> us.. that was really cool because for some things we could really stock
up...
-> normally we get $5.00 off every purchase (that's not so great, but it's
better
-> than nothing at Wegman's).

I could do a lot with $5. You should see what I pull at CVS every week,
playing by their rules. It's different with groceries than HBA, but every
little bit helps. Some people here still put soda cans out for recycling.
I've been known to stop and snag a bag, because they have a nickel deposit
on them; that discarded bag = $1 off my groceries. I was raised by
Depression kids; you don't pass up free money.

-> Boy do I understand that one.. Tina is also (or was) on diet food, which
also
-> did nothing for her.. so she stopped eating it anyway.. what a waste..
tried
-> another one, and she's still being finicky haha.. that's a cat alright
:)

Yep! One of my cats loves canned Friskies, but won't eat some flavors of
the expensive little cans. Go figure.

-> We used my Oscar grinder for the first batch and it worked ok.. no
problems..
-> then my blender died from me dropping in the sink (well, the jar died,

I still have the one my mom got as a wedding present.

-> so I told him, probably needs to soak in a bowl of soapy water.. that
will do

killed the
-> food processor attachement hahaha.. so THEN we looked at the manual and
of
-> course it said, "DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER" oops LOL We must have really
soaked
-> it :)

OOps. Expensive peanut butter. I'd have resorted to my good old meat
grinder, most likely. Solid metal. It requires some hand power, but it'll
tackle just about anything. I've even ground raisins with it; try that
with a food processor and you'll just gum up the works.

-> > because it

->
-> > Or it had too much oil. :)
->
-> Yeah, I think that was it ... certainly noticible difference in the
cookies,
-> that's for sure.

The homemade peanut butter wasn't pasteurized like the commercial stuff;
that can have a major effect too.

->
-> > YEP!  It's inherited from being a kid!
->
-> LOL!!!! I think you are exactly right :)

I've known a very few kids who didn't like peanut butter. They were weird
kids. ;-) Allergies are another story, but most kids like the stuff.
