Having a cherry tree is a mixed blessing!
When the cherries get ripe the birds 
do get some, but the silly tree I have 
is prolific in production. So much so that
it's hard to keep up with all the cherries!
If too many cherries fall off the tree they
get hard to pick up out of the grass, and 
if they don't get picked up they start to 
ferment...and soon they attract bees..
well not bees so much as bald faced 
hornets! The hornets imbibe freely of
the fermented cherry and get drunk!!
And hornets are NOT nice friendly on
the best of occaisions, give em a good
likkering up on cherry booze and they are 
MEAN drunks!! No one dares to go into 
the back yard at that point because as
soon as they spot you they are ALL over
you! We usually put tarps down under 
the tree so we can clean up the cherries
that fall every day! We pick and freeze 
lots but the tree is always way ahead
of us! (grin)

-> But I DO like fresh cherries... of all sorts...  :)

I like cherries well enough, not the biggest
fan, but they're ok, like blueberries. Anne 
however absolutely loves both cherries and
blueberries!
