Ärende: Bob's Red Mill
======================
Hi Ruth,

-> RH> I have no idea why; it just works that way.

-> Whatever is most comfortable for long term use is what I like.

 RH> That's part of it; I'm so used to the Singer that it's like part of my
 RH> hand, even though the blade is a good inch shorter than it really
 RH> ought to be.

Shears have blades 7" or longer, anything under that is categorised as
scissors.

-> I was taught the one way but picked up the other out of convenience. No
-> comments from my parents when they saw the change. They'd probably
-> gotten all the comments made when I went back to using my left hand
-> after being forced to switch when younger.

 RH> I was allowed to work leftie, but learned almost everything "backward"
 RH> out of convenience too. Besides, switching midstream is great for
 RH> doubletakes among the seriously right-handed.

I know. (G) Steve calls me "amphibious" because I switch with so many
things.

-> RH> an ice storm or something.

-> Any tree with a shallow root system can do that; we saw it quite often
-> in HI. No ice storms but wind and rain with a shallow water table.

 RH> Cherry trees will do the same thing with enough provocation. One went
 RH> down in a hurricane in the back yard next door. Missed everything but
 RH> the
 RH> sawmill. I have a feeling it's cabinetry somewhere. It was a big
 RH> tree.

Made for some pretty pieces of furnishing.

-> RH> I found semolina in my local job lot store yesterday. Go figure.

-> Did you grab it? Somebody didn't know what they were dumping or let it
-> age out.

 RH> Not yet. They carry a product line called Bob's Red Mill. It's all
 RH> fresh stuff; the store owner just likes it and it sells like hotcakes

It's a brand that's been around for years.  I don't remember when I saw
it for the first time--possibly before I got married. Anyway, I've
bought some of their products (I think the gluten I have in my fridge
now is from them.) over the years and have been very satisfied with
them. Even the commissary here has a small section near the vitamin
section of Bob's products. I'd have no qualms about using any of their
line.

 RH> apparently. I didn't grab any because while I have a pasta machine it
 RH> hasn't been used in 10 years or close to it.

I don't have a pasta machine. We had one with the old Kitchen Center
but it was a lot of work for the end result. I did blow away my MIL one
time with home made lasagne noodles. (G) We've thought about getting the
pasta attachment for the Kitchen Aid; OTOH, Janis says that she likes a
free standing pasta machine. (She has the same model mixer.) But, she
has the counter space for it that I don't. Decisions, decisions.....

-> RH> Or how much the MS is cranking up on any given day...(grouse)
 RH> ->
-> Probably feels about the same.

 RH> The operative word is feel - with me when it acts up, things get
 RH> number. It's a problem some friends with nasty bad backs would trade
 RH> for, at least in the short term.

I know; if I could trade some of my health issues............I probably
wouldn't want to. (G) Did get some good news yesterday. After 15 years
of an official diagnosis of osteopenia, my last bone density scan showed
the density was normal, no signs of weaker bones.

-> -> So put it on regular pancakes. Steve learned that from his dad.
 RH> ->
->  RH> Hmmmmm - it's a thought.  Or biscuits.  Biscuits and sauerbraten
->  RH> gravy, it's what's for breakfast
 RH> ->
-> Sounds good to me. (G)

 RH> Sounds good to me too! Now to make biscuits....

Or pop open a tube. Seriously, I know you can even get biscuits that
you just put on a cookie sheet and bake.

Catch you later,
Ruth
