BF-> I just bought a new GPS, a Garmin nuvi 750. 
dd-> I just wish there was some way of getting the "Remain on the same

I'm not sure either of my GPSs does that.  If so, I never noticed.

things.

  Ok, here goes...according to my mother (and it works, so she's right
  for a change! ::grin::) They need dampness and airflow. Until
  recently, I had been keeping them in the cardboard box they come in,
  covered with a dampish paper towel, in the fridge. Keep towel damp,
  use mushrooms within a couple of days.
  
  However, I've made an improvement on this, due to modern technology
  (yippee!). Get some of those new vegetable ziploc bags...y'know, the
  ones with the pinholes in 'em? Lay a damp paper towel along one side
  of the bag, fill with cleaned mushrooms. Zip up bag. Refrigerate.
  Since airflow is less than an open cardboard box (see above), the
  towel doesn't dry out as quickly, and mushrooms stay edible for
  almost a week. OK, OK...by the end of the week, you better cook them
  in something where they can't be recognized, but they don't get slimy.
  
  I tend to eat my mushrooms raw with dip, and the above method has
  kept them edible for me.
  
  Most important! DON'T WASH MUSHROOMS! They're sponges and will absorb
  *lots* of water. I just use a damp paper towel (use a lot of them,
  don't I ::giggle::) to wipe them off. I understand there's a special
  brush made for cleaning them, but I've never used one, so I can't
  tell you anything about them.
