Hi Hap,

->  hn> ones we've seen have a person refusing
-> hn> somthing that contains HFCS and the other
-> hn> person giving them a bad time about it.

-> Those were the ones I saw in LV wondering who they were trying to sucker
-> with the lines about it being so good. All I had got out of it was the
-> mental picture of the other ad with the HFCS oozing out of the kid's
-> costume.

 hn> I think they were put on by the Corn Marketing
 hn> Board (grin) Have not seen them aired lately!

I don't recall who put them out but I suspect they got enough flack from
the consumer market that they decided to pull the ads. I don't like
multiple airings of dumb ads, especially in a short time frame; that
was one thing I didn't like about the Food Network. Last night during
the 11 PM news, the Progresso soup "diet" ad ran 3 times in the half
hour. Good thing the remote has a mute button. (G)

-> -> and preservatives so picked the former. It's getting harder & harder to
-> -> find good food.

-> hn> It really is if you buy much processed stuff.
-> hn> We tend to buy fresh fruits and veggies, and
-> hn> only a few items that are canned or frozen.
-> hn> Even that is not a sure way to avoid
->  hn> the "evils" though.

-> I know but there are some things we have to get that have the "evils" in
-> them. Should have waited on the gingersnaps until we went to Brighter
-> Day today; had a couple of better choices there. But, today's trip was
-> one of these "as long as we're out, is there anywhere else we need to go
-> to?" run. And we were about out of several things so.........

 hn> Yep, somethings you just have to accept
 hn> that you can't always get what you want
 hn> (to coin a phrase from Mick Jagger)!

I know; I used to make a lot of our stuff or we just didn't buy it.
Over the years we shifted away from that but now we're going back to
where we were. But now we're going to be buying some things--in the
better form--that we used to not buy, like the ginger snaps. I used to
make my sauerbraten in the crock pot with a standard "thicken the
juices" type of gravy. A couple of years ago, I decided to try the
stove top method (after I got my cast iron dutch oven) with ginger snap
gravy. It was so good we decided to use it as our primary recipe. (This
last time I made it with an eye of round roast & it was falling apart
tender.) Hence, the ginger snap dilemma.

-> -> work crews. You got a huge breakfast, even the egg dishes were

-> hn> It's hard to mess up breakfast, but some
-> hn> places manage to do it. There is a place
-> hn> where my retiree breakfast meets once a
->  hn> month...I sometimes order the #1 special.
-> hn> 2eggs, pancake, bacon or sausage and
->  hn> hashbrowns and toast...the pancake is
-> hn> the size of a plate! everything else comes
-> hn> on side plates! One of my friends orders
-> hn> the 1/2 order of sausage biscuits and gravy.
-> hn> and he can barely finsih it!

-> I'd go for the #1, scramble the eggs, no pancake, half portion, hot tea
-> and orange juice on the side--and make it whole wheat toast please. (G)

 hn> But, but, that's not a number one at all! (grin) That's just a
 hn> side order of scrambled eggs and toast! (grin)

No, it's everything but the pancake so it's still the #1, with just one
deletion. (G)

->  hn> Time flies!!

-> And how! Deborah is about Amanda's age (June 22, 1980).

 hn> Amanda is just a few months younger, Sept 11, 1980..
 hn> her 21st B'day was a real downer for her!

I can understand; we had a 3 am wake up call that day. Turned on the TV
& didn't turn it off until about 11 pm.

Deborah lost her military ID & benefits on her 21st birthday but a
couple of months later, enlisted in the National Guard. She'd not gone
for Basic yet but was over in the desert within a couple of years.

-> ->  hn> On a side note, knowing you're a Mets fan. I got
-> -> hn> to meet Tom Seaver today at a charity event at
-> -> hn> the ballpark! What a nice guy! Also got to meet
-> -> Now THAT really takes me back. I was sitting in chemistry class when
-> -> the Mets won their first World Series. The teacher was one of the few
-> -> in our school that wouldn't let us watch the game on the cafeteria
 hn> ->
