MSG used to be a favored flavor of mine, and I would sometimes
put a couple crystals of Ac'cent on my tongue just for the taste,
which was very Chicken in a Biskitish. Of course my head would
often roar afterward, but, hey, anything in the interest of
gourmandise.

Hard for me to say, as when in French grocery stores peanut butter
has been the last thing on my mind.

I eat mass-market hamburgers, what can I say. The scrambling
effect of the brain surgery has manifested itself almost
exclusively in two ways: the vitiation of my sense of direction
and the newfound inability to fully remember tastes I've tasted
even fairly recently.

Mexican Wheat Chili
cat: not chili
Serves: 8

1 c wheat kernels
2 lb hamburger
1 Tb olive oil
1/2 ts ground mustard
2 Tb chili powder
1 1/2 ts cumin
1/2 ts cardamom
1 onion, chopped
1 lb mushrooms, roughly chopped
4 tomatillos, husked and chopped
1/2 c water
2 c broth
1 cn tomato juice
1 16-oz cn tomato sauce
4 chipotle peppers, with adobo sauce
1 Tb dried cilantro
2 limes, juiced

Soak kernels in a crockpot, in water, overnight on low. Drain.

Brown hamburger and onions.

Combine oil and spices in a large dutch oven. Place over high
heat until spices sizzle.

Add mushrooms, tomatillos and water. Cover and cook till
vegetables are juicy, stirring occasionally. Uncover and
continue to stir till juices evaporate.

Add broth, tomato juice and tomato sauce and peppers. Mix well.

Combine wheat and hamburger in a crockpot. Add vegetables and
sauces. Cook on low for 8-10 hours. Add lime juice and cook for
2 more hours.

Serve with sour cream and cheese.
