===================
Hi Nancy,

NB> NB>> traipse through the living room, dining room, maybe more (maybe
NB> a NB>> library and/or music room?), to get to the kitchen...

RH> Very illogical. Most of the stuff is for the kitchen anyway so it
RH> makes sense to off load from the car as directly to the kitchen as

NB> That was my point exactly... and thankfully, he did catch on... :)

And probably thought afterward--"how could I have been so dumb?".

RH> possible. Stuff meant for other rooms could be set in the next room
RH> while groceries are put away, then distributed where needed. It is
RH> nice when baggers put all non kitchen stuff together & nothing else but
 RH> that's a rare occaision.

NB> Generally we bag our own, just to have things bagged the way we want
NB> them. Most of ours is for the kitchen in some way, though...

Depends on the size of the trip for us. Self check out is bag your own
but limited to 15 or 20 items. Otherwise, we deal with a cashier and
bagger w/a request for paper bags after the canvas ones we brought are
filled. Most baggers don't realise how much stuff can be put into
those, probably double the amount that goes into a paper sack. OTOH, the
plastic bags only hold about half of a paper sack.

RH> thing about being stationed in Berlin was the commissary delivery
RH> service, even tho it was an extra cost. We lived on the 7th floor and
RH> for several months, the elevator was out of service. They even
 RH> delivered then. (G)

NB> Now THAT is service! :)

For sure! One time I was almost done with the shopping & the power went
out in the commissary. I had to leave the cart (everything was put back
into stock) and head home. Got into the building and a neighbor was
headed down the stairs. She said that she was headed over to the
PX/Commissary plaza since she had no power. I told her to save her
trip; it was out over there as well. It was out over a good part of the
district for several hours; I forget what we did for supper but all of
our cooking was done with electricity. I went back the next day and did
my grocery shopping sucessfully.

NB> NB>> librarian, so he should (ok, at least COULD) have thought about
 NB> it on NB>> his own... (G)

RH> Sometimes the obvious is easily overlooked.

NB> True. Which was what I kept pointing out to him... until he figured
NB> out that he needed to pay attention to the easily overlooked obvious
 NB> stuff
NB> along with the great ideas to make something special... :)

And that will make him stand out if he keeps paying attention to the
little details.

NB> more classes NB>> as well... dunno if anyone else took the time like
NB> he did to really NB>> talk to the "customer"...

RH> So he probably stood out in the "customer's" mind, even after he'd
 RH> gone on.

NB> Probably... and if he'd stayed in the Philly area, might have gotten
NB> jobs because of it... but he moved to Arizona, and now has left even
NB> his architecture behind, as he moved back here to spend more time with
 NB> us for a while. :)

Enjoy him while you can. Is he working in the area?

Catch you later,
Ruth
