I'd say "too small pot" rather than "too much oil." People
(especially once-a-year cooks) don't realize the amount
of headroom required in the pot: you need enough for the
oil plus the food plus lots of extra space to take care
of the bubbling up. When Patrick did his fried turkey,
he came within a couple inches of disaster. Whether that
was owing to skill or luck I don't want to speculate.

Ravioli aren't likely to cause much of a problem unless
they're coated in ice. And with something as big as a
turkey (who on earth would want to fry a frozen turkey,
though?), if it were free of excess ice and frost, and
the pot were big enough, the fire risk would be not so
great. Of course, the risk of getting a burned leathery
outside while still having a raw inside would be sizable.

I have limited experience with the stuff, but I'd have thought,
were I a member of the general public, that juice and/or coffee
might be included in "breakfast." As far as chain buffets go,
HTB included soft drinks, or so I thought, last time I was there.
It would make sense to do so (as the Chinese places have figured
out), because a pint of Coke costs less than a pint of food.

He did some really strange things during my recent visit,
but nothing dangerous or horridly offensive. And he can
be a honey at times; you just have to remind him what to
do (but he'll forget it next time).

Saosa 'd avije, honey sauce:
cat: sauce
yield: 1 batch

1/2 c honey
1/2 c broth
1 ts powdered mustard
12 walnuts
Mix the honey and the broth and stir in the mustard. Skin
the walnuts and mince very fine. Stir the nuts into the
honey mixture and the sauce is ready.

Serve with bollito misto.
