This was orange braide nylon twine, more like 
thin parachute shroud material than string. It 
was used in the line throwing gun, a shotgun
like gun used to "throw" a "heavey(pronounced
heeevee) from one ship to another (or to shore
if needed) and was tied on one end to a "monkeys
fist knot, and on the other to a heavier mooring line.
You'd shoot the monkey fist over and they'd haul 
away at the shot line until they got to the mooring
lines. It was very strong for it's size! Not something
you'd use in cooking but we used a LOT of it when 
camping!
