=============================
Gidday Ruth!

->
-> -> Just have to deal with it. Art least I know that much. (G)
->
->  hn> Das ist gut!
->
-> Yes; I can also go rings around you in ASL.
->
maybe not as fast as you think, I do know
a fair bit of ASL, not as much as Anne though
who is quite good, one of my sisters is fluent
enough with it that she served as a translator
for hearing impaired employees where she worked.

-> -> hn> All sorts of uses for twine! When I got out of the navy
-> -> hn> I had a "slug" of shot line; a nylon line that was used
-> -> hn> in the line throwing gun...I think it was about 1000 feet
-> ->  hn> of the stuff...all gone now...but it's been over 35 years
-> -> hn> so we got good useage out of it!
->
-> -> Sounds like it. Steve has some green cord around (somewhere with all
-> -> his Army stuff) but not nearly that much. Nothing I'd want to use for
-> -> cooking anyway.
->
-> hn> This was orange braide nylon twine, more like
-> hn> thin parachute shroud material than string. It
->
-> Sort of what I figured.
->
-> hn> was used in the line throwing gun, a shotgun
->  hn> like gun used to "throw" a "heavey(pronounced
-> hn> heeevee) from one ship to another (or to shore
-> hn> if needed) and was tied on one end to a "mxkeys
-> hn> fist knot, and on the other to a heavier mooring line.
-> hn> You'd shoot the mxkey fist over and they'd haul
-> hn> away at the shot line until they got to the mooring
-> hn> lines. It was very strong for it's size! Not something
->
-> I've read of things like that but not ever seen it done "live".
->
Not having been in the navy that might explain it!
(grin)
->
-> hn> you'd use in cooking but we used a LOT of it when
->  hn> camping!
->
-> I can see where it would be in a situation like that. String up a
-> clothes line to dry dish towels.........
->
Exactly, or running a line from tree to tree
for a dog run, or a tension line for a tarp.
LOTS of uses! It was VERY strong and
durable as well, we used it over and over
again.

-> -> hn> hot plate or something? Or is she not much interested
-> ->  hn> in cooking?
->
-> -> I think she has a 2 burner hot plate in addition to her microwave. She
-> -> does some elaborate cooking (or did, when she had a stove in her rental
-> -> places) from time to time. Right now she's too busy to do too much
-> -> except maybe week ends and then she's concentrating on fix up around
->
->  hn> At least she's got a hot plate!
->
-> I think she does, not 100% sure.
->
->
-> hn> Hard to make a roast on a hot
->  hn> plate though!
->
-> It can be done if you're determined to do so.
->
Yeh, but it's way more trouble than it's worth!

-> -> -> place--and I don't like smooth top electric stoves.
->
-> -> hn> Never had one...but it would get used as extra counter space
-> ->  hn> if I did! (grin)
->
-> -> This one is "government issue" with the quarters. It's funny; they gave
-> -> us a small kitchen (not designed for serious cooks) but a (lower end
-> -> model, albeit) newer type of stove. And a fridge model that has
-> -> problems--enough that a recall has been put out on that part.(G)
->
-> hn> Well, you're closer to getting your own each day
->
-> Getting there. Still waiting to hear if Steve's been accepted. It'll be
-> a rental while he's in school, then hopefully a place of our own (and
-> the bank).
->
As you may have noticed, it's really a
buyer's market out there right now!
chat with you soon!
