I've got an antique home version of one of those. I don't make French fries
with it ... but it does make nice, consistent batons of taters, cucumbers, etc.
Which then can be easily cross-cut for consistent cubes/dice to use in soups
and stews, etc.

Hardee's use the "Star" motif on their signage but not in their burger naming.
Some Hardee's locations are being re-branded as Hardee's Red Burrito ... and
offer Taco Sloppo style selections in addition to the usual burgers and
hicken.
I talked to the manager of just such a location a few weeks ago and asked how
the "Mexican" thing was doing. His reply reminded me a lot of Ponty's song in
"How to Succeed In Business" ... "I'll Do It The Company Way".  Bv)=

IOW (reading between the lines) not well. Most places where there are stores
rebranded as Red Burrito there is a substantial enough Latino presence that
there are also authentic Mexican restaurants.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Croquetas De Jamón Serrano
 Categories: Appetizers, Snacks, Latino
      Yield: 1 servings
 
      2    Eggs, beaten with a little
           - water
      4 tb Flour
        pn Smoked paprika
      3 tb Olive oil
           Salt & pepper
      1 c  Milk
    1/2 lb Jamón serrano; diced
    1/2    Onion, minced
      2 c  Bread crumbs
           Olive oil for frying
 
  Heat the oil in a pan and sauté minced unions until transparent.
  
  Stir in the flour and cook it briefly, then whisk in the milk.
  
  Cook, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
  
  Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  
  Stir in the jamón and spread the mixture into a dish. Refrigerate
  until solid.
  
  Place the beaten eggs in one dish, the bread crumbs in another. With
  moistened hands, form the chilled mixture into balls or cylinders.
  Dip each croqueta first in bread crumbs, then in beaten egg, then in
  bread crumbs again, taking care that they are well covered.
  
  Allow to cool for 30 minutes.
  
  Heat oil in a deep fryer and fry the croquetas, a few at a time, until
  golden - about 3 minutes Serve hot with other tapas. Also perfect
  with your favorite beer.
  
  Often served as tapas, croquetas are a favorite throughout Spain.
