Interesting. I'd have thought that the relative scarcity
of the cards relates to the bigness of the name, but
obviously that can't be the only criterion.

Better not to! With food, at least, I can usually make
do with something that I can afford and that is available.
The quality of being able to go a couple days without food
and/or liquid doesn't hurt, too.

A hundred? That's a bunch. If I were you, I'd
be satisfied with 75.

There was one of the James Bond book bad guys who had
invested in stamps (perhaps a good choice) and Bolivars
(not such a good choice). Anyone remember who it was?

believe.

Who's going to give a scruffy refugee full value? The guy
sort of by definition was in straitened circumstances. He
might have gotten lucky and had someone feel sorry for him,
but more likely, knowing the profession, someone who was
willing to leverage the seller's desperation.

HONEY GLAZED CHICKEN WITH JUNGLE ROSES

servings: 6

4-5 lb Roasting Chicken
3 Tb Honey
2 Tb Melted Butter
2 Tb Soft Butter
1 Tb Rose Water
1/4 c Chopped Pistachio Nuts
4 lb Potatoes
- cut lengthwise into 1/4s then into chunks
1/4 lb Butter
3 Cloves Garlic - Pressed and minced
2 Sprigs Rosemary

Prick Chicken with a knife, secure 1/2 Tb of butter
under skin above each breast and thigh; truss.

Combine honey, butter and rosewater. Brush mixture on outside of
chicken, reserving the remaining mixture.

Place in an open roasting pan; surround by potatoes. Sprinkle rosemary,
garlic, salt, and lightly pepper potatoes. Add soft butter in chunks
around potatoes. Roast at 350 degrees for 1 3/4 hours.

Baste frequently with pan drippings and remaining mixture.

Transfer chicken to a hot platter surrounded by potatoes.
Sprinkle with nuts and garnish with rose heads.
