======================
Aloha Ruth!
->
-> -> hn> As I was saying to Michael in an earlier
-> -> hn> message, so far I've been pretty good at
-> ->  hn> avoiding wealth (grin).
->
-> -> Still waiting at the air port for your ship to come in? We're waiting
-> -> for great aunt Agatha's millions (but haven't figured out what side of
-> -> the family she's on).
->
-> hn> Yep, that's me alright! No money to speak of
->  hn> on either Anne's or my side anymore...so we're
-> hn> just going to have to resign ourselves to the
-> hn> status quo. (grin) Which ain't so bad most days!
->
-> Yes, I know. We'll never be gazillionaires but we're so much richer in
-> other ways.
->
Amen and AMEN!!

-> hn> Got a surprise check in the mail a couple of days
-> hn> ago...seems one of my stocks has been bought
-> hn> out by a private concern and they sent me
->  hn> the $$ for my shares...not a big sum but now
->
-> Nice! In 2007, my mom got a nice settlement from a stock that had split
-> and resplit over a good numbr of years, the company bought out, buyer
-> bought out several times, etc. It was originally one of the firms my
-> grandfather had bought stock in years ago & he passed away 51 years
ago.
->
It's nice to have these little windfalls every
once in a while...but this is money I'd already
put aside to work for me....now it's doing
nothing till I reinvest it!
->
-> hn> we have to figure out what to do with it.
-> hn> I'm thinking of another stock, maybe Ford motors
-> hn> like Unka Dave. We can get a pretty good number
-> hn> of shares and if the price goes up we benefit.
->
-> Yes but after having some problems with our Ford recently, I'd be a bit
-> hesitant to go with them. Figured our car is either a Monday pm or
-> Friday am (not as bad as Monday am or Friday pm but enough little "bugs"
-> in it) from what's had to be fixed over the not quite 3 years we've had
-> it. Extended warrantee gives us a rental if ours is in the shop over
-> night tho. This time we had trouble with the air bag sensor on the
-> passenger side; the shop had to call Ford to get the "fix" for it.
->
I have a friend who's having lots of
problems with his Prius...and that's
supposed to be one of the most
reliable ones on the road today.
Never can tell about cars! (grin)

-> -> hn> I am also involved with an online artists
-> -> hn> community (I do watercolors) and many of
-> -> hn> the members are from climates like Yellowknife
-> ->  hn> Jim's..One, a nurse, lives in Northern Ontario and
-> -> hn> walks to work (1/2mile) even during the winters!!
->
-> -> My brother that used to live in Albany (NY) did that. He retired a
-> -> couple of years ago & moved to Florida. Even with love bugs and
-> -> hurricanes there, he doesn't miss the snow.
->
-> hn> This lady lives way up in Northeastern
-> hn> Ontario, so I expect she gets some really
-> hn> coooollllld winters! Me, I'll take mild and wet
-> hn> anyday! Mostly we keep our snow in the
-> hn> mountains where it behaves itself quite
->  hn> nicely thank you!
->
-> But occaisonally you get storms like you had Christmas time. Those are
-> ones where you hope you have a good supply of canned gooed,, a freezer
-> full of stuff and the pantry full. Also hope that the power stays on so
-> you can cook. (G)
->
We infact had snow this morning...snowed during the night
and we had about 2" on the car when Anne went
to school...it had melted by 10 am and the high
for the day was about 45 I think.

-> ->  hn> and even some snow every so often..but I tend
-> -> hn> to like cooler temps than most, but I would not
-> -> hn> like to live live Jim, with common temps in the
-> ->  hn> double digit minuses!
->
-> -> Not for me either. I'd have to stay at home, with a perpetual mug of hot
-> -> tea in my hands. Tho, if there's enough snow, it will insulate the
-> -> house a bit.
->
-> hn> We tend to keep our house cool. 60 at night
-> hn> and when Anne gets up in the morning I turn
-> hn> it up to 70 while she showers and gets ready for
->  hn> school...as soon as she's out of the house I go
-> hn> back down to 62 or so and if I get a bit chilly I
-> hn> put a sweater on. I'll turn it back up when Anne
-> hn> gets home for dinner.
->
-> Ours is supposed to stay at about 72 but the thermometer we get shows
an
-> actual reading of 69 quite often in the winter. I'll wear a couple of
-> layers, adding more if needs be, to keep warm. Depends on how busy I
-> am.
->
I'm quite comfy at 65-70 with out any
jackets or such.

-> -> hn> and I think it shows. Meeting three world
-> -> hn> series pitchers in one day was certainly a
-> -> hn> big thrill, but I get a big thrill out of just
-> -> hn> being there for lots and lots of games!
->
-> -> That's your Peter Pan side? I see the M's got Ken Griffey, Junior
-> -> back--much to the disappointment of the Braves.
->
-> hn> I've always liked baseball, played it as a kid
-> hn> year round. I almost always had a baseball glove
->  hn> with me...even when I was riding bikes a lot!
->
-> Ever want to play on one of these teams set up to give guys like you a
-> major league experience?
->
I've thought about it...but all that
would happen now is that I'd hurt myself!
(grin)
chat with you soon!
