Hi Carol,

 > Sigh! That shoots THAT possiblility unless you save lots of pennies.

CS> Yeah, oh well! Right now, still job hunting so if i dont have to
CS> spend on something, I generally do not.

I hear you there! I'm glad Steve has school lined up; we know what our
plans for the next 3 years are.

 > CS> Thats true. You'd have to see the place to understand the room is
 > CS> boxed in pretty tight to it's size. The only 'easy' way to grow is
 > CS> into the living room. Not optimal.
 CS> >
 > Not having seen it, I was just speculating.

CS> Decent speculation it is! If it were not for the gas and water lines,
CS> it would be the direction to go in. In fact, it might be doable in
CS> the distant future but wont be cheap.

So get that job that pays mega bucks-gotta be a government one these
days. (G) Keep the idea on the back burner and think about it when
you've got a bit of money stashed away. As far as it goes, it might be
reasonable to do it in the not too distant future--find a contractor
that needs a job.

 > CS> Too cold! We have possibly the last cold spell now. 20's tonight.
 > CS> Cash even has a jacket for when he has to go pee ;-)
 CS> >
 > It's been cold here but warming up to the mid 70s by Saturday. Then back
 > down to the low 60s Sunday. I'm not saying the cold is over until late
 > March, early April for sure.

CS> Warming here too and last cold spell may have been the worst of it?

Not here; they're calling for a storm to blow in on Saturday, ending
with rain, possibly mixed with snow on Sunday night. Monday's high is
predicted to be 48. Time to dig out the rib sticking meals again.

 > CS> Unlike you, I've only one experience with other than rental in town

CS> Works for me! I'd not need the dishwasher as much but probably get a
CS> movable unit if Don wanted one (the sort that plug into the sink
 CS> faucet).

The kitchen in some of those places doesn't have room to stow a portable
dishwasher. We've applied for housing only in the area of student
housing that has them but also planning to look in town when we go up
next week for a few days.

 > Frankfurt but it still was cheaper than living on the economy.

 CS> I wish...

Just being in the right place at the right time. We were supposed to
get economy housing in Frankfurt but signed for temps 10 days after we
got there. A window opened at just the right time. We were told the
temps would be for 6-12 months; it was 53 weeks when we moved into
permanent quarters.

 > CS> There, there wasnt any choice in which I got, it was 'take it or leave

 CS> >

CS> Navy tends to a 'take it or leave it' and your waiting time starts
CS> over from scratch if you do not take it.

The Army also kicks you back to the bottom of the list and usually has a
"take it or leave it" policy. We've just hit things at the odd right
time when everything has meshed together. Some kitchens have been less
than desireable; if I could, I'd design a kitchen around the best
features of each place we've lived. At least I know what to look for in
the "avoid, if at all possible" situations. (G)

 > CS> port and Don had to take me to our new place after doing the move
 > CS> alone.
 CS> >
 > I'm sure he handled it just fine. (G)

CS> He did! That and the move to the Cho place which he arranged as I was
CS> at sea (though home for the actual move).

Well, your moving days are done.

 > Depends on the girl and what she's in to. But, I suspect curling irons
 > are what most of them use.

 CS> Yes, there is that.

It's easier for most things but some occaisions rollers would be the
better option.

 > CS> In her case, she hates a hair dryer worse than the cat.
 CS> >
 > Now that is a serious hate! I've yet to find a cat that likes a blow
 > dryer.

CS> Roscoe didnt mind them, if set on low and the sort used for curls.
CS> He'd lay on his back and gently grumble as i dried and brushed his
 CS> belly off after a bath ;-)

That must have been quite the sight! Did you ever get pictures of it?

 > CS> Hehehe she's girly enough compared to her friends. Still holding that
 > CS> last 'I'm a kid' level but not that strong.

 > I've gone thru it with my two. Deborah has held on to it somewhat, or so
 > it seems at times.

CS> Well, now she's getting a little more into cooking at last! JUst a
 CS> few things but progress!

Is she making meat balls? (G)
