Billy woke up not remembering having eaten dinner. Turns out he'd 
taken 3 Ambien, not 2. As 1 is the recommended maximum dose, it's
no wonder he was such a mess last night.

Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast. I don't know why, but they say
that Dunkin's are better than the local Amish product. Go figure.
The fried sour-cream doughnuts were in fact excellent. Boston
"creme" and "creme"-filled were marred by a fat-based gukka in
the middle. I didn't think that I could be made nostalgic for
fake custard out of 55-gallon drum, but there it was.

Annie had leftover shrimp fried rice for lunch with an egg
on top.

There was enough couscous and lamb stew for Billy to have a
reprise of dinner, which he appreciated as if he had never
tasted it before.

For me, I made pigs in blankets - breakfast sausages from the
country store (these were wrapped in big casings and so looked
like Italian sausages) wrapped in bacon, sided with a fried egg.
On the Kreher's (Clarence, NY, a couple miles from the crash
site of that Continental plane) egg carton there's a warning
label: "may contain double yolks." Mine did. I guess I can't
sue, because of the warning. [g]

Utz russet potato chips are overfried; the carbohydratiness
of the potatoes makes it a bit of a challenge to fry them
properly, and, surprisingly, Utz doesn't. Cape Cod either.
Perhaps russets aren't meant to be made into chips.

More Penn-Dutch delicacies - garlic ring bologna from the
country store and Lebanon bologna from Seltzer's. Both very
good, very flavorful.

Did a little work, then prepped the kitchen.

Billy was sort of mellowed out. Chastened because he'd
forgotten the previous day.

Rob came over for prime rib - garlic-rubbed and 550F for 15 min
and then 15 min per pound at 325F. It came out perfect.

Annie said she was meated out and wanted crabcakes, so I made
some. Also did brussels sprouts in butter and sherry.

Annie made Yorkshire pudding, which both Billy and Rob love.

Luna di Luna Pinot Grigio/Pinot Bianco blend was decent -
ripe melon and tropical fruit, a slight smokiness. Annie likes
this stuff.

Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc 06 - well, not so much rat in it.
Lemon-lime, a little greenness, not so much cat pee. Okay minus.

Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon 06 (Colchagua, Chile) - medium
ruby, beginning to thin out, odd for a 2 1/2 year old wine.
Good acid, a touch sweet, lots of tannin. More robust than the
parent wine, I think, but not so subtle: none of the flowers
and earthiness that you might expect, just fruit and tannin.
Completely uninteresting though (as you might expect) well made.

Dove bars for dessert: I had one of each of the new little
treats - vanilla and chocolate chip. Dove chocolate on the
outside, quite nice. Dove ice cream on the inside, very creamy,
not very characterful.

Billy, continuing to be chastened by yesterday, quit drinking
his scotch and gave it to me. Dewar's 12 - quite smooth, a tad
sweet, medium body, a fair amount of smoke, grain midpalate,
a little spice, maybe star anise, or maybe that was in the air,
cardamom, something like that. Decent.

The temp is plunging, but it appears the enormous storm that
has hit Atlanta, Richmond, and Washington and is scheduled to
take out Philly, New York, and Boston Monday will roll along the
coast and miss us; I wonder whether I'll be able to fly in and
out of Philly on Tuesday.

Billy has promised to take no pills tonight.
