Yeah, he is (g).. I'm hoping he's not trying to horn in on the fancy food I'm
making for her Lol.. just kidding.. but I have been making her custom sick
doggie dog food because it's so hard for her to swallow.  I'm so worried about
all the dog food recalls.. who needs that crap now on top of everything else,
you know?  So this is what I'm doing: this is for 5 days dog food or so, I
didn't buy "quality hamburger", because it was going to get cooked right away.

3 lbs. hamburger, 3 cups rolled oats, 1 lb. broccoli from the garden chopped
very small, 3 cups carrots chopped very small, 3 cups rice, 2 eggs,  about 2-3
cups rice milk.

I cooked the rice and veggies together in a big pot with about 1/2 more water
than called for and let it cool some. Then I mixed the raw hambuger with the
rice/veggie mix and oats, and added the rice milk and eggs.  I was going to use
water instead of the rice milk but had left-over rice milk in the fridge so I
used that up.. It made a ton of monster meat loaf so I baked in large pyrex
glass bowls at 350 for about 2 hours...and boy does she love it.. I give her
about 1 cup for every 50 lbs mixed some of her normal dog food moistened and
she has no problem eating this if I mash it up for her. that in itself is a
relief.  I also use it to give her her meds :)

Today she actually made it outside! we were so happy for her.. she stumbled
quite a bit and flopped down as soon as she made it back in :)  She looked
totally exhausted.. poor pup.. but you can tell there's good progress. Just
waiting for the Doc to call me back today to hear about the results of the
thyroid test..

===Mashed Potatoes with Roasted Garlic===
6 cloves garlic, whole and unpeeled 1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons olive oil
6 medium size potatoes, quartered.
2 6" x6" pieces of tin foil

Spread out one piece of tin foil and curl up the edges like a pie plate. Add
the olive oil and the garlic cloves. Top with second piece of tin foil and
press the edges to seal well. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes. When done, squeeze
the garlic cloves out of their skin. Reserve the olive oil.

While the garlic is roasting, boil the quartered potatoes with skins on for
about 15 minutes.  When fork tender, drain and put in a mixer bowl.  Add the
roasted garlic cloves with the oil they were roasted in, the butter, milk and
the salt and pepper.  Beat until smooth. Whip on high speed until fluffy.
