The advantage of course is that you get to hear me play, assuming
I'm still in the group. The disadvantages (besides your not being
able to attend) would be that I could offer no accommodations and
possibly not kitchen space, though Bill always has a huge party
for July 4, after which people traipse to the concert.

Bill and Paul will be accompanying some friends on an RV tour
across the country: I'm not sure where they're going, but I'll
be taking care of the two extremely naughty cats. I should be
able to take off long enough to host an effective picnic, if
the need arises. The house can sleep 4 or 6 in addition to me
(one couple in the big bed, two on upstairs and downstairs
couches, two on upstairs and downstairs floor (bring sleeping
bags or pads)). There are all sorts of hotels nearby - check
with veterans of previous picnics. A fairly decent but only
4-burner kitchen, but an extra fridge in the basement. Also,
the tenants' kitchens might be available by prior arrangement.
If this is going to be a major candidate, let me know soon so
I can start greasing the wheels.

I almost made a remark to that effect. The title might be
amenable to being amendable to something like Black Forest
easy Milky Way pie.

Lest anyone ask about Patrick, who provided cooking facilities
for the Clam Crawl main events, we haven't spoken since his
meltdown at the '03 Enfield event (when I was irritated that
the extremely conflict-averse participants didn't back me up).

Which reminds me: the official echo picnic list should be
amended to give credit to co-hosts

Chocolate Orgasm (adapted from a recipe for trifle)

Ingredients:
1 package Duncan Hines Chocolate Cake Mix
2 packages instant chocolate pudding
1 large tub of Cool Whip
3 (or 4) HeatH or Skor candy bars
Chocolate chips (or shaved chocolate)
Kahlua (to taste....<g>..)

Prepare cake according to package directions. Allow to cool. When cake
is fully cooled, take a fork and pierce cake liberally. Pour Kahlua over
top of cake 'a la Julia Child', allowing to soak in (be careful not to
drown the cake). Prepare instant pudding according to directions, chill.
Chill candy bars.

In a trifle bowl, crumble about half of the cake/kahlua mixture (chunks
should be about the size of golf balls, but no larger than tennis
balls). Remove 1 (or 2) candy bars from refigerator, and give them
several good raps on the counter (to break them up). Sprinkle over cake
in trifle bowl. Spoon half of pudding mixture on top of candy bars in
trifle bowl, followed by half of the Cool Whip. Repeat with another
layer of cake, then candy bar(s), then pudding, and finally Cool Whip.
Top with chocolate chips (or, my preference - shaved chocolate). Chill
for a few hours (about 4 hours seems right, but it usually doesn't take
that long for it to be "noticed" in the fridge).

Serves 1 (or more, maybe)
