Not even close. The closest I ever came -

1. as I was well dressed, as at the time I tended to be, I
was invited to be a jumpseater on an Eastern Airlines 727
(I declined), having inadvertently by my demeanor and perhaps
level of knowledgeability the false impression that I was an
airline employee - that was back in the days when stewardesses
used to try to pick me up;

2. I have sat right seat on a Cessna, not nearly so elevating
of spirit or person than sitting up front on a commercial jet.

Yes, you do, you're not willing to admit it. It's the same
as on all the other aircraft: knots. I'm not making a value
judgment on one system over another, except that as everyone
used the same one 100-80-60-40-20 years ago, it would have
been way complicated to change things in a risky setting.

 GJ> read-out of speed to customers in both km/h and mph, and the height in

Correct. And it doesn't. Serves you right for trying to extrapolate
from what you see on the teevee.

If it was the "new" fly-by-wire system, that would have
to have been a couple decades ago. I seem to recall that
the computer did much of the stupidwork. I don't have
the energy to do a search on 1980s air show accidents,
but perhaps some other search-by-wire people could do so.

For your next assignment I recommend doing a Google search on
A320 "air show" accidents and a Google image search on
"airspeed indicator."
