The Philippines, as a former US colony, runs 60 Hz.  It used to be
supplied at 110 V, although these days it is connected to give 220 V
almost everywhere.  I think everywhere else except America is 50 Hz.

Most TV and similar electrical equipment these days is designed to run
on either frequency; once the AC has been rectified, the supply
frequency doesn't matter.  Voltage input is switchable or
automatically sorted out 110-240V, and frequency is given as 50/60 Hz.

Most new TVs here accept PAL and NTSC, and some, SECAM.  The only real
problem is with DVDs, as Australia is in Region 4, so our DVDs cannot
be played in your Region 1.  That shields you from our evil influence.

And I always thought the Scot, John Baird invented it in 1926...

My tuner/recorder is not HD, but accepts PAL/NTSC video format, with
720x576 and 720x480 lines respectively.  It can record on one channel,
while decoding and feeding its dependent TV on another.

No one used nitro here in those days - 1940s and '50s.  Many speedway
bikes were pre-war Douglases, Rudges and similar, with a few converted
more recent road bikes.

Agreed.  They are nuts.  All of ours comes from the sea.

Not here.  Spring onions are like very small leeks or large chives.
(g)  Sometimes called shallots, but the real shallots are different
again, rather like garlic sized onions.

Is it?  Here tomato paste is a thick, concentrated form of tomato
puree.  Usually labelled "triplo concentrato".
