Interesting phenom. I am about to try, having had the
initial issue die down, a refereed rematch with the
apricots to see how much I can take before the roof
falls in again.

Ah, yar, but not the same. Now that your odd statement has
resonated deep enough in my own brain cavity, I seem to
recall having read that asparagus is closer related to the
lilies than to the grasses. That doesn't make a whole lot
of sense to me either, but ...

The distinction would still be useless if the asparagusses
and lilies and palm trees were "grasses."

Bread pudding with vanilla Creole ice cream
cat: dessert
servings: 8

h - pudding
1 qt milk
1 qt heavy cream
3 Tb sugar
1 oz vanilla
8 lg eggs
12 egg yolks
8 croissants
- or 12 sl white bread
1 c chopped white chocolate
h - ice cream
2 qt half-and-half
3 1/2 Tb sugar
2 vanilla beans, seeds scraped out (!?)
2 egg yolks
8 oz Creole cream cheese, softened
- sub lowfat cream cheese

Combine milk, cream, sugar, and vanilla; bring to
the boil. Remove from heat and slowly whisk in eggs
and egg yolks. Add croissants and stir until mixture
is thick. Fold in the white chocolate. Bake in
ovenproof container in a water bath until browned.

For the ice cream: combine half-and-half, sugar, and
vanilla beans in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over
medium heat. In a separate bowl, combine yolks and
cheese. After half-and-half boils, slowly whisk in
egg mixture. Remove vanilla beans. Refrigerate for
24 hr. Freeze in ice-cream maker.
