Hi Janis,

JK> > As in you are very left brained? Steve is as left brained as I am
JK> right > which makes life interesting at times.

JK> I'm not sure if I am or not :) I think sometimes that Ron and I are
JK> cross between the two (g).

That brings back memories of college. One of my psychology professors
designed a personality test that categorised people as totally creative,
totally organised (functionally based might be a better descriptive), or
a mix of both--highly creative/functional or low on both or high in one
and low in the other. It sounds like you would fit in the highly
creative/functional category. (G)

>> as "get > out of the road, stupid cat" for obvious reasons.

>> Poor kitty! (G)

JK> > Poor kitty, my foot! Ever see trucks go around a cat that just
JK> won't > budge? Ths was on the road to a busy marina.

JK> Wow :) Patient truck drivers, that's for sure!! :)

Yes, after honking at the cat and waiting a bit, they would finally go
around him.

JK> > The hard part is deciding what field but it would be something in
JK> the > creative arts, probably needle/thread/fabric related and
 JK> probably in
 JK> > design.

JK> That would be so neat.. I have Corel Draw here, and I think sometimes
JK> about creating embroidery designs.. if I had the time, it would be
 JK> nice (g).

OTOH, I prefer to draw with pencil and paper--and why are you not
surprised? (G)

JK> > No, commonplace. Normal, everyday stuff.

JK> Geez.. We miss a bit of the old world here in the states I think..

Very much so. In Germany you could get your bread from a bakery, your
meat from a butcher, etc. Supermarkets were not as common as here in
the states, generally smaller too.

>> I think it stopped in Warwick earlier than that.. I was probably in
>> grade school.

JK> > Warwick is a bigger place; Margaretville does good to count 800 in a
 JK> > census.

JK> At the time, Warwick (the village) was maybe 1000 people.. but I'd
JK> have to check the old census reports to be sure.. That is my memory of
JK> it though, at the time :)

I'm talking still Margaretvile is that small. (G)

>> Definitely true :) The kids love helping me in the garden every
>> summer.

JK> > As long as they're enjoying it, encourage it. Once it gets to be
JK> forced > labor, it's not fun (speaking from experience).

JK> Oh yeah, I know the forced-labor problem haha. They love having
JK> their own "rows" in the beds, and take care of them with pride.. it's
 JK> neat to see.

That's good. Dad gave us either a small area in one of his 2 gardens or
a small plot elsewhere, plus we had to help weed his gardens.

JK> > Canning is so much better in so many ways than freezing--but I still
 JK> > like my freezer. (G)

JK> I use it a lot for sure.. especially if the heat is getting to me, and
JK> I can't work in the garden out in the sun, harvest stuff, and then
 JK> come in and
JK> immediately can it.. that can be a bit much :) I realize I'm not
JK> superwoman (g). (maybe wonderwoman, though Lol).

I have to take most things in stages but the end product is nice to look
at (or see on the inventory sheet).

JK> > I'll give it a taste test. It may be something we do more for home
JK> use > but not for pot lucks or other, similar. We'd stay with the raw
 JK> sugar > for those. (G)

 JK> That makes sense :)

After all, not everybody likes the same way of eating that we do.

>> > You could buy separate components for the Kichen Center. We've got
>> an > ice cream maker, pasta maker and small food proccessor that we

>> it doesn't > have the power of some of the newer things like KA or
>> Viking.

>> Understand.. so you don't have to throw the older one out.. if you
>> want to try a kitchen aid mixer you'll get everything you need to make
>> bread.. and pasta dough.. you wouldn't get a pastadough cutter though
>> unless you bought an attachment.

JK> > And I hate to have to buy everything new when I've already got all
 JK> the
