I didn't say cough up more money, Burt. I also do/did not recommend piracy
(although that is better than Micro$not deserves). I have a disk called XP
Ultimate which is a copy of a copy of a copy of a version of XP delivered to a
group of IT professionals at a seminar - the embedded code is non-expiring and
MS expected it to be copied ... which is as near to Public Domain as those
thieves will ever come.   Bv)=

I also have access to a confuser re-cycler in my town who puts XP on nearly
anything he re-sells using his MCSE certification and the over-riding licence
that comes with it.

There is a pretty complete beta version available for download from the M$
site. I test flew it on another 'puter and it is as slick in graphics as Vista
... although I can do without the (optional) animated desktop graphics ... but,
is not nearly so big a memory hog and resource hog as its immediate
predecessor. And it will run "legacy" applications that would break routinely
on Vista.

Apparently the denizens of Castle Redmond glanced out the portal and noted the
large angry crowd milling about outside the portcullis carrying torches,
pitchforks and nooses. Someone must have figured out that they were pissed
about the Vista OS - because this "new" version is much sooner than would be
normal in their financial model. They like to milk the last possible farthing
from a product before upgrading it.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06
 
      Title: Magic Window Cookies
 Categories: Cookies, Desserts, Snacks
      Yield: 6 Dozen
 
      1 c  Sugar
    3/4 c  Shortening (part butter)
      2    Eggs
      1 ts Vanilla
           +=OR=+
    1/2 ts Lemon extract
  2 1/2 c  All-purpose flour
      1 ts Baking powder
      1 ts Salt
      5    Rolls hard candy; Lifesavers
 
  Mix sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour,
  baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate at least 1
  hour. Roll dough 1/8" thick on lightly floured cloth covered
  board. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place
  cookies on aluminum foil-covered cookie sheet. Cut out designs
  from cookies using smaller cutters or your own patterns. Place
  whole or partially crushed candy in cutouts, depending on size
  and shape of design. To crush candy, place between paper towels
  and tap lightly.
   
  As candy melts easily, leave pieces as large as possible).
  If cookies are to be hung, make a hole in each 1/4" from
  top with end of plastic straw. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

  Bake until cookies are very light brown and candy is melted,
  7-9 min. If candy has not filled out cutout design, immediately
  spread with metal spatula. Cool completely on cookie sheet.
  Gently remove cookies.

  About 6 dozen 3" cookies.
