If I get there--and right now, we're waiting on a date from Steve's
family to be confirmed--I will make brown rice in your rice cooker. I'll
bring up some rice too, probably not the blend I brought last year but
either straight brown or brown basmati.

Basically, I do a bit over 2:1 liquid to rice ratio. Instead of 2 cups
of liquid I'll put in about 1/4-1/2 cup extra (not measured exactly).
Brown rice does not get all mushy like white rice; maybe you are
expecting it to.  It also has a much more complex taste, yet compliments
everything that goes with it.

I have a couple of woks; the larger one is the traditional round bottom
style, the smaller one is flat bottom.  Both are carbon steel.  I've not
used an electric one but I've read that they can't be heated as high as
what's needed to do a good stir fry.  Rachel got one as a wedding
present and, to be honest, it looked like a thin aluminum with a non
stick interior.  She has used it a few times but said that David doesn't
really like stir fry. He will eat Panda Express style Chinese; maybe she
just needs to get a better wok and some other recipes.

I usually do mine on the stove top.
