The resident-only parking is supposedly enforced 24/7.
I believe that people with HP plates or permits won't be
bothered, so stock up on the latter if you have them.

Except on Sunday we won't be spending much if any time at
the house anyway.

There's on-street free parking on the major tourist
thoroughfares Derby and Essex Streets. There's a decent
municipal garage (costs something, not too much) about
0.2 miles away.

for years, which makes me feel like a real maroon.

150 g chestnuts
500 mL milk
3 egg yolks
2 Tb Cognac
50 g sugar
1 vanilla bean

Boil the chestnuts; peel and puree.

Halve the vanilla bean lengthwise and boil with the milk.

Beat the egg yolks with the sugar to a dense foam;
combine slowly with the milk, mixing continuously.

Off heat add the chestnuts and the Cognac.

Cool and then freeze in an ice-creme machine.
