Not being great at multi-tasking, I have a particular hate for such
people, who come out with profound questions such as, "Who should I
vote for in the next Federal elections?", or "Which of these nail
polishes goes best with my new hair colour?" as I am entering a 5-way
intersection round-about at a peak period.

The inhabitants of the Northern Territory have probably got the world
record for alcohol consumption of 15 litres of pure ethanol per
person, per year.  One of the Darwin drinkers piled up his car in
avoiding a police booze bus, and disappeared into the long grass.  It
was 3 hours before he was found and tested, and even then he blew 5
times the legal limit.  Even a Police Superintendent was lumbered for
DIU.  He had drunk 15 stubbies of beer at a Police conference in the
Darwin casino before staggering off to his car.

Defensive driving is the only way to survive in Darwin!

So I have read.  Have you ever had the feeling that you have been
incredibly lucky to have survived until now?  When I remember my own
past stupidities, I do.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: DRUNKEN CHICKEN ADOBO
 Categories: Mains, Chicken, Pork, Adobo, Filipino
      Yield: 4 servings
 
      2 lb Chicken pieces; OR
      2 lb ; pork
    1/4 c  W- dark Filipino rum; OR
    1/4 c  ; white wine
      2 tb Soy sauce
     12    Garlic cloves; minced
      1 ts Salt; 2 taste
    1/4 ts Sp- black pepper, ground
      1 c  Vinegar- cider
      3 tb Oil- vegetable
      1 c  Buko/coconut water
 
  Dark Filipino rum is best suited for this marinade because of its
  rich, hearty flavour, but white wine will also work. Substitute pork
  for the chicken, or experiment with a combination of both.
  
  Marinate the chicken in the rum, soy, half the garlic, salt, pepper, &
  vinegar overnight, or at least 2 hours. Remove the chicken & drain.
  
  Saute the chicken in 2tb oil for 8 to 10 minutes, or till golden
  brown. Pour off excess oil & add the buko. Lower the heat, cover, &
  simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, or till the chicken is tender. Remove
  the chicken to a heated platter. Saute the remaining garlic in the
  remaining 1tb oil, & sprinkle over the top of the adobo.
  
  If using pork, make sure the pork is cooked thoroughly.
