Hi Sean,

RH> Smaller portions usually fill me pretty well. Any larger and I
RH> usually split it in half, taking half home to enjoy a 2nd time. I did

SD> Knowing me, I could have eaten three people's servings. <G> But the
SD> "smaller portion" was pretty darned good. I think I'd get that pulled
SD> pork platter again-I could gum all of my food!

I'd probably go for the pulled pork again, and probably the smalle
platter. If I'd gone for the larger one, I know I would have had some
take home--but we didn't really have room for it.

RH> I like cole slaw but have a hard time finding a good one when eating
RH> out. The one at SB I would definately go for again; it went well with
RH> the potato and pulled pork.

SD> I'm not a fan of coleslaw, but I have been told that good coleslaw is
SD> really difficult to find in most eateries anymore.

It is a sorry state when you can't get good cole slaw any more. We
stopped at a small place east of Atlanta a couple of years ago; they had
good cole slaw, mustard potato salad and pulled pork. I took some
potato salad and meat home with me. (G)

RH> decent crop of tomatoes before cold weather; I think we will,
 RH> considering our location.

SD> I've seen those but not tried one yet. We might try one next year or
SD> if I can do it, I'd like to start early (March?) to start to try to
SD> work on setting up a raised bed for a veggie garden. There's a spot
SD> right off of Maura's office door (on the other side of the house from
SD> the living room; you'd turn left off of the front porch to get to it)
SD> that would be good. It's full sun but protected from the drafts full
SD> of car exhaust from Oakland Avenue.

We'll start earlier next year too. This year, the move sort of
precluded it, plus knowing we would be traveling in late June/early
July. I'm hoping to get at least enough for eating, maybe can or freeze
a few pints too.

RH> Same here. My drink was resupplied before I asked but Steve's was dry
RH> well before any refills came. Seemed like they were fairly busy for
 RH> week night.

SD> As you saw, I drink copious amounts when I eat. It's very easy for me
SD> to get too big of a bite without realizing it and having the thing get
SD> stuck in my esophagus. Then the hiatial hernia kicks in and complains
SD> the Atlanta VA hospital - evidently this swallowing problem is part of
SD> their practice - and the pathologist said that I definitely had
 SD> problems swallowing.

SD> The sad part is that I've noticed more and more of my teeth starting
SD> to rot so it looks like I'll have to have a full set of falsies in my
SD> mouth. Not something I'm looking forward to.

No, but better to get the false teeeth and be able to eat better. It
may help the swallowing problem as well. Will the VA do it? Steve got
his VA evaluation the other day and will be going to Durham tomorrow to
go over details.

RH> Hopefully more money will be available. I saw something in the
RH> "American Legion" magazine about the new GI Bill that an amended FAFSA
RH> can be put in if a financial situation changes; you might want to look
RH> into that. Also, the financial aid office should be a help. Steve

SD> Sadly I lost my GI bill bennies on September 11, 2008 (my official
SD> date of leaving the IRR). I only used about $200 of it earning my
 SD> CompTIA A+
SD> certification. No worries though, evidently because I'm a veteran and
SD> the son of a Vietnam vet, I qualify for different grants and things I
SD> can apply for. I'll be going to ETSU here in the next few weeks to
SD> talk to someone about it.

Do it before the school years starts for help this coming year. Once
classes start, it will get harder to get aid for the current year.

RH> Looks good but I'd use whole wheat pasta. Say "Hi!" to Maura for me &
RH> give the kitties some attention. (G)

SD> I do like whole wheat pasta. It takes some getting used to for me,

We've used it for over 30 years; white pasta is so wimpy/mushy tasting
now.

SD> but it's good. Maura says an exhausted "hello" after working a
SD> nine-hour shift at work today. It was not terrible, just terribly

Get her on here. (G)

SD> busy. Tigger flipped his tail at me and looked at me as if to say,
SD> "Who?" when I told him you said hi. Felix jumped up on my leg and
SD> meowed happily when I told him you said hello to him.

Tigger must be miffed because I'm not there to give him attention. Felix
will take attention from me when he can and have happy memories when he
can't.

SD> Speaking of Felix, I had a friend from work come over to get a guitar
SD> I was giving him. When friend walked in the door, Felix was right
SD> there. Felix even showed interest when my friend plugged the guitar
SD> into his amp and began to play. Tigger got spooked and ran off to
SD> hide in the storage room closet. <G> It was cute - Felix really liked
SD> my friend and my friend said he'd take Felix home with him if he

Felix and Tiger might be better as "only" cats, as long as they can each
get all the attention they want. But, you're used to having the 2
around now so.............................

SD> This is something new to us finding out how friendly Felix is. He's a
SD> very happy-go-lucky cat and his tail is always upright and the tip is
SD> curved as if to always have a question mark follwing him around. :P

You named him appropriately then; in Latin, Felix means happy.

SD> Right now, Felix is in my office next to the closet staring intently
SD> at the wall. I think there might be a bug (or a shadow) that he's
 SD> chasing.

(G) I can see it now.

SD> To keep with the conversation theme and a nod to Felix:
