Figured I'd natter at ya'all while catching up echos.  I'm now over 1,000
behind here!  EEK!  Must be really busy the last 2 weeks!

Anyways, we put in our application for Daisy, a 2 year old rescue kitty who
was abused and abanoned and was hard to place.  She's real shy normally but
for some reason she really took to Charlotte and me and turned into a loud
purring lap kitty right away with us (which amazed the folks there!).  She's
white with medium fur (just short enough to not mat, but luciously full and
very fine), has her claws (perfect for us, I do not agree with declawing and
keeping cats from clawing the few items we have that would be damaged is easy
once you've been through it).  Incredible sea-green eyes.  Very sweet but
obviously not a cat for a rambuctious toddler or 3 <g>.  Oddly, she is quite
dog tolerant so possibly was raised with one.

Ok, so we put in the application (takes a few days but we are the only
applicant and they really like us as this cat responds to us while she hasnt
to hardly anyone else).  They are delighted that we are also former happy cat
owners as she's not really suitable for a new cat owner who doesnt know how
to deal with a shy scaredy-cat and we do.  That we've responsibly kept 2 from
kittenhood til old age took them softly away is a bonus.  Same place ws used
to place Thom when we left and they have the record of us being responsible
folks who don't abandon pets.

I bet you can tell I'm excited <G>.

So, 178$ later, we left the PetsMart (where the rescue kitties here are
shown, no puppy or kittie mills in VB area PetsMarts I assure you).  Thats
not actually outrageous for initial outlay as we had gifted away all our
former kitty gear to good homes who needed it or along with Thom to his new
owner.

5lbs Purina Pro (She needs the same food for a time and was staving when they
found her but she's regained most of her weight now).  Later i can look at
IAMS or another suitable high quality food for her for 10$ vice the 19$ of
that one.

6 small cans of fancy wet foods, different types to see what she may like. 
We normally keep dry out all the time, and wet as a treat in the evening,
these were mixed from Science Diet, to Fancy Feast.

A good roomy carrier with a top door which works better for fraidy-cats, and
it has a front door too plus air vents all around.

Cat litter pan with the sifting inner pan, liners, and cat litter.

Smallish lambswool cat bed (fraidy-cats like these and she's got one in her
cage there which if possible we will ask them if we can take that and leave
the new one for them to use.  It will smell like her and make her more comfy
at the start).

door knob scratch post and a *small* (8 inch high) little rug covered thigie
with a ball she can bat about if she wants (thats to entice her out to the
livingroom at the start) plus 3 catnip toys.

Breakaway flea collar and flea drop stuff.  Hairball remedy 'candies'.  Water
bowl and food bowl (we have dishes but they werent really shaped just right
and these were really cute).

I'll still need to get ear cleaner but want to talk to the vet first to make
sure i get whats best for her.  She wont need a bath for a bit and thats not
something we want to start right away with her anyways (might use their
grooming place the first few times).  I also need nail clippers and a good
brush but didnt see a brush of the right type just then, nor clippers I liked
all that well.  Besides, I don't want to clip her nails til she's comfy with
us.
