Thanks for reminding me of that.  That is one reason why I keep little
note pad diaries when I travel.   Then all I have to remember is where
I left the diaries...

After finding most of my diaries and checking through their wine and
gravy soaked pages, I see that I have so far made 5 visits to USA and
surrounding countries.

I ate breakfast with Dave the Sac on 24th October 1998 and enjoyed
local lobsters.  That was my first visit to USA.  I brought OP Bundy.

In Salem for several days from 3rd July 2002 and attended the
deep-fried turkey picnic on Sunday 7th July 2002. Burt did a Tim-Tam
slam with red wine and you broke a chair.

The Enfield picnic, also very well hosted by Dave the Sac, lasted from
22 to 24 August, 2003.  We had noisy neighbours in the hotel.  After
that picnic I continued travelling East to Australia via Europe.

The last picnic I attended was at Dale's on 27th July 2007, where
there was the roast/smoked pork battle and many beers.

I was also in USA for a month from 20th April 1999, but no picnic.

So there we are; the last Salem picnic I went to was just over 7 years
ago.  Rounding up to the nearest ten, that is 10 years ago, isn't it?

      Title: Pam Granese's Ricotta Pie
 Categories: Dessert, Thanksgivin, Italian
      Yield: 1 Servings
 
MMMMM---------------------------PASTRY--------------------------------
      2 c  Sifted flour
    3/4 ts Salt
    2/3 c  Solid vegetable shortening
      1    Egg
      6 tb Water (to 8 Tb)

MMMMM--------------------------FILLING-------------------------------
      2 lb Whole-milk ricotta
  1 1/2 c  Sugar
      2 ts Vanilla
      1 c  Milk
      4    Eggs, separated
 
  Confectioners' sugar for Dusting
  
  Oven at 400F.
  
  Sift flour and salt into large mixing bowl. Cut in shortening. Add
  egg and enough water to make dough hold together. Refrigerate 10 min.
  Roll dough out into a rectangle to fit a 12x8x2" glass baking dish.
  Fit dough into dish and set aside.
  
  Combine cheese, sugar, vanilla, milk, and egg yolks. Blend until
  smooth. Beat egg whites until just foamy. Fold into cheese mixture.
  Gently pour into pastry- lined dish. Bake at 400F for 20 min. Reduce
  heat to 375F and bake 45 more min or until filling tests done. Remove
  from oven and let cool.
