I remember back in 1984 when I was around 13 years old and attending middle
school (7th grade), fall was a very unusual season for school.  Half of the
kids were missing since they were all out hunting.  Back then, before everyone
became politically correct, we had hunter safety courses we could take that
covered all of those topics you mentioned.  I always tried and tried to get
into one but they were always booked solid by the time I tried.  I moved out of
the area a couple of years later and never was in a place where those classes
were offered again.

I've not hunted in 20 years but I may go this fall with some friends from work
as one of the guys I work with is a very serious bowhunter (just dropped over
$1200 on a bow and accessories) that loves him some venison.  I can't operate a
bow at all with my wrists but I can sure operate my friend's Dan Wesson
single-shot .357 just fine. <G>  I'd like to bring home a deer as the meat
would quite literally feed Maura and I for a year or possibly more.

But even here in the boondocks the PC police are crying foul (fowl?) about
hunting and it gets rather irritating.  Maybe it's time there's an open season
on those fools...might be interesting.

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

      Title: Venison Savory Stew
 Categories: Soups
      Yield: 8 Servings

      2 lb Venison Roast (Boneless)
    1/2 c  White Wine
    1/8 c  Worcestershire Sauce
      1 c  Lentils
      1 ea Large cucumber, diced
      1 ea Jalepeno pepper, diced
      6 ea Med bannana peppers, chopped
      4 ea Small potatoes, quartered
      1 ea Indiv box of Fiber One
      1 pk Top Ramen Beef fl.noodles
      4 ea Triscuit Snack Crackers
    1/4 pk Ranch Dip Mix(-sourcream)

  Do not skin, peel, or otherwise denude the vegetables or potatoes.
  Wash them briskley and then cut them up.  The good stuff is in the
  skin, always, as the skin is what was intended to serve, protect and
  defend the pulp and seeds. Fill large crock pot half full of clean
  cold water. Add ingredients. Let cook on low heat for 12-16 hours.
  Season as desired during last 1 hour of cooking, adding bay, etc., as
  suits your individual collection of buds. This recipe may be done
  with any game animal, except that squirrel tends to be far too
  stringy for my taste.  If you like hearty and thick, this stew is for
  you.  It would also go well with beef, obviously.
    I do recommend a bay leaf added to the top for the last hour.
