Easy, there, boss - my transportation and lodging choices were
based on my own convenience and not on any kind of self-denial.
I'll get to the clam crawl place quicker on the bus than any
other way. As far as Friday night goes, I'll be up for a ride
from anyplace within shouting distance of Boston.

Easy slow cooker lamb tagine
cat: African, main
servings: 6

3 lb boneless leg or shoulder of lamb, cubed
s, p
1 Tb olive oil
2 minced garlic cloves
2 c salsa
1/4 c water
1/4 c coarsely chopped almonds
1 Tb honey
1/2 Tb ground cinnamon
1 ts ground cumin
1 ds cayenne
3 Tb raisins or currants
2 Tb chopped cilantro
hot cooked couscous (or rice)

Season lamb pieces. Brown half the lamb in hot oil;
remove to a 4-qt slow cooker. Repeat with the remaining
lamb. Add next 8 ingredients. Cover and cook on low for
5-6 hr or until lamb is very tender.

When lamb is almost done, remove lid and spoon off as
much fat as possible. Stir in raisins and cilantro.
Correct seasoning. Serve with choice of starch and
garnish with additional cilantro.
