==================
Hi ruth,

-> Don't know but I I can't remember it tingling like that since I broke it
-> in 2001.

 RH> Then it's either a good thing or a bad thing. No way to know which at
 RH> the moment.

No, unfortunately not. I did get back almost all the range of motion it
had (lost the ability to hyper-extend) and a fair amount of strength
which is handy for large chop up (veggies) jobs. I lost some of the
hand use tho--mostly not a problem but is for ASL and typing.

-> RH> And brownies? That always seems to work.

-> I think he'd rather have chocolate chip cookies.

 RH> I could go with that.

So could he so I guess I'd best get baking. Especially since we found
some black walnuts (already shelled) at Harris Teeter a few weeks ago
that have been in our freezer waiting to go into cookies.

-> RH> Mine are a total mix. Charity cookbooks, assorted languages,

-> And hw many times have you made something from any of them? Recently?

 RH> A few. It depends on the book. My old King Arthur has been known to
 RH> get a workout, and that 1962 edition of Joy of Cooking has come off
 RH> the shelf more than once.

I've got (in paperback) a 2 volume JOC I refer to every so often. I
don't have a King Arthur one but wouldn't mind getting it one of these
days. I also want to pick up Giada DiLaurentis's " Everyday Italian".

  I've been ditching the ones that I've never
 RH> used. A giant Chinese one went to the local senior center one day; it
 RH> was too heavy to carry any more with it. The next day it was gone.
 RH> They have a bitty
 RH> thrift store in there that I try to hit once in a while. In was
 RH> closed the day I brought the book, so it was left on the book giveaway
 RH> table.

Somebody wanted it or they needed a table leg prop. (G)

-> And may wind up there again at some point?

 RH> Got it in one. I've got two stacks that are leaving, and I'm slowly
 RH> working through the rest. The Japanese and Swedish ones, in those
 RH> languages respectively, are staying. I can kind of read the Swedish
 RH> one, but I keep it for the marginalia.

As I should go thru my shelves again. The only language ones I have are
in German; got one (on pasta) as a freebie at a Tupperware party over
there. All the other ladies took the 1 quart strainer which I already
had.

-> In a small town they can be. (G)

 RH> Too bad my stack isn't in a small town.

And it wouldn't pay to ship them there as profits go to the library.
That is, unless you really wanted to get rid of them and didn't mind
paying the shipping.

-> RH> I have quilt back fabric all over the place. Quilt front too.
 RH> ->
-> The 108/120" wide backs? I've got lots of "quuilts in the raw", waiting
-> to get cut out and assembled. (G)

 RH> One maybe. I've been known to piece them. When I hit the thrift
 RH> stores I always check for 100% cotton sheets just in case.

Sheets are too rather tightly woven; I've read that they're not the best
for backing. I guess it's more for hand quilting; they might do well
with machhine quilting.

-> RH> Advertising pads, gimme letter nonprofit pads, political pads, and
-> RH> some actual sticky note pads that you actually paid for. Yep.

-> I gave Steve a bunch earlier today and am still seeing them all over the
-> place.

 RH> That will be true until the day you die. I swear the things multiply
 RH> on their own, like wire coathangers.

Or last nights dishes left by the sink.

-> My classes aren't that intense.

 RH> They don't have to be. Sometimes it happens anyway.

I doubt they will; this isn't graduate level work.

-> RH> I've got the original drawings for just about every applique
 RH> project
->  RH> I've ever done.  It's been useful a few times.
 RH> ->
-> I've got pretty near that too but I don't do that many applique
-> projects. A lot of them I'll free lance on the design.

 RH> I've done it with fleece before now. The edges don't fray, so it's
 RH> not as much of a pain unless you count the stretch factor.

True but most of the time I (used to) do applique was for the home made
diaper bags. Small area, small designs. Then I got the embroidery
machine.......................

Catch you later,
