==================
Hi Ruth,

-> RH> I can imagine. I did a PT evaluation this afternoon. It would
 RH> have
-> RH> been useful, except that half the standard stuff they prescribe is
->  RH> stuff I can't do.

-> And no reasonable alternative probably.

 RH> It's hard to do core exercises when you're missing part of said
 RH> core...and it's the front rather than the back. You can't work out
 RH> something that literally isn't there any more...and that lands you in
 RH> the hospital when you try it anyway. The problem is that what I
 RH> really need are to get some nerves back on line, and only God is
 RH> capable of pulling that one off.

I know, some day the body will be perfect and whole. Meanwhile, you're
still living and breathing here. Small blessings but they do help.

-> Before I bake them. It's forecast to be in the upper 60s Monday and
-> Tuesday so I may do some baking then.

 RH> It didn't get out of the 60s here today. Except for the rain it was a
 RH> good thing!  Loved it!

Well, now they're saying low 70s. Beats what we've been having but
could use a bit more of the wet stuff.

-> RH> Now we're back to using butter for a lot of stuff. It tastes

-> Yes, it can't be beat in a lot of things. I use it or a vegetable
-> shortening (non hydrogenated, natural) for most of my baking. Table
-> spread is a mix of 1 1/2 cups of butter softened and mixed with a cup of
-> olive oil; I do my own "soft spread".

 RH> Land O Lakes makes it that way now too. I wouldn't have bought it
 RH> except that I found it on sale with coupon and a full rebate on the
 RH> sale price. When they literally pay me to haul it off, I'll buy just
 RH> about anything.

I've not seen any of those coupons. I don't use as many now as I did
when Steve was in the Army. Changing from commissary shopping to more
Whole Foods and Fresh Market type stores and just buying lots of brands
that aren't couponed.

-> RH> Cheap and effective. It's a crowd that "does" books rather than a
->  RH> screen.
 RH> ->
-> I do a mix of both; right now trying a bunch of stuff from various
-> sources (Food Network web site, clippings from the paper, store hand
-> outs, etc). Some are more successful than others. (G)
 RH> ->
 RH> I went hunting for a spring roll recipe the other week, only to happen
 RH> on one Stephen Ceideberg typed up a good 15 years ago. ...from a book
 RH> I have around somewhere.

So did you get it from MM?

-> RH> the economy were better the guy in question would love to open his
 RH> own
->  RH> bakery.

-> Maybe he will some day.

 RH> He'd like to; he wants bread. Real bread, and baking his own may be
 RH> the only way to get it.

Sounds like a good way to do it. The folks that run Bread Alone in the
Catskills have done quite well for themselves. I bought their cook book
some years ago; I need to dig it out and start playing with some of the
recipies.

-> Sometimes the craziest sounding ideas do work quite well.

 RH> My mother thinks making quilts out of stretch velvet is nuts too, but
 RH> the ones I've given away have all been very well received. They're
 RH> soft and they feel good. Even if the design isn't that pretty it's not
 RH> always an issue.

Soft and cuddly beats anything except "show off" quilts.

-> RH> They call their buddies in from outside.

-> Got to, especially when you don't recognise some of them. (G)

 RH> That would be a factor. They beam in from the Enterprise galley.

Or other, equally remote places.

-> RH> Made life easier on your hands.

-> They were all machine sewn on; I just had to cut them out.

 RH> It's a cool thing.

Some of the home made ones were quite so.

Ruth
