==================
Hi Ruth,

-> I know the feeling. I made Italian sausage with peppers, mushrooms,
-> onion, and garlic for supper tonigght before class. Thankfully there
-> wasn't as much note taking as last week.

 RH> That's just as well. OTOH, it might be a good time to learn to write
 RH> with your "wrong" hand. I did that in college a fair bit of the time,
 RH> in
 RH> classes where I didn't have to write quickly. It was easier. I do
 RH> remember freaking out a teacher by putting a pen in both hands and
 RH> using both of them.

My parents forced me to use my right hand for some years. Then they
fussed because they couldn't read my hand writing. I could bring my
EeePC but this class gives more hand outs that are fill in the blank and
add extra for notes.  I may consider the computer for other classes;
Steve uses his. He was able to find a program that converts his
keyboard into ancient Hebrew. (G) I'll just plan on not doing much
slice & dice a couple of hours before class.

-> RH> It's gone from 90s and disgusting to 70s and almost chilly,

-> NICE! The kind of weather I like.

 RH> It was back into the 80s today. I actually had the A/C on in the car.

Yes, we're into the upper 80s and higher humidity again. That's why
supper will be partly grilled, partly nuked.

->  RH> organics. I can't say I've ever really looked at those.
 RH> ->
-> Possibly stuff I can find into Whole Foods Market?

 RH> Most likely. Most of them are things I can't find in a conventional
 RH> supermarket; Whole Foods is the only one that carries most of them
 RH> around here.

We hit up the one in Raleigh big time yesterday. Got a lot of stuff for
the next couple of months; we're going to go the el cheapo eats route.
I got a fair amount of various beans and soup/stew making stuff. The
seminary is sponsoring a trip at the end of the year that we want to go
on; even with a cost break for students, it's still a signifigant chunk
of change.

->  RH> Lung cancer.  It wasn't pretty.

-> Nothing like that ever is.

 RH> The long, slow painful ones are always nasty. I want to be hit by a
 RH> meteor or something.

Sounds good to me. In my sleep is another painless option.

-> RH> That's pretty far afield for me. Way cheaper and easier to make my
->  RH> own.
 RH> ->
-> Figured it would be.

 RH> A few bucks for flour instead of $50 for gas? Yep, definitely.

Yes, plus you get the fun of making your own bread. The past couple of
times we've needed it, I've used the KA instead of the ABM. The first
time it didn't work out that well; I didn't have enough whole wheat
flour (thought I did) so was tossing in a lot of other flours, cold.
Even added some 7 grain cereal. The bread actually tasted pretty good,
even tho it looked bad. The second time, I put it in the oven for 2nd
rising (had enough whole wheat flour) and turned on the oven when it was
ready to bake. It got a bit darker on the crust than I wanted but
otherwise looked good and tastes good.

-> RH> My grandparents' farm was in the same area, and I still have
 RH> cousins
-> RH> in Walden and Liberty.
 RH> ->
-> South of where I grew up.
 RH> ->
 RH> Apple country then.

I tend to think of Schoharie County more for apples tho there was a
cider mill nea where I grew up (close enough for school field trips).

-> -> A lot, when you let my imagination take over.
-> RH> You never know what'll pop up sometimes.

-> For sure!

 RH> I have a quilt top almost finished made from an Indian madras/leaf
 RH> print retired skirt and white fabric hand block-printed with an Indian
 RH> wooden printing block. I think it was meant for wall borders, and
 RH> made to look older than it was. Both came from a yard sale or a
 RH> thrift store. So did the white fabric, which started life as a 60s
 RH> cotton sheet. The fact that it wasn't pure white any more and shaded
 RH> a bit just makes it look better.

Sounds interesting; I'm still working on getting extra clutter out of my
sewing room. Just about there, then I can pull out some projects put on
hold before we left Savannah.

Catch you later,
Ruth
