I actually worked there in high school in the early 80's when it was the real
A&W... they made their rootbeer daily in the basement and it was not carbonated
until it came out of the tap upstairs on the floor.

They had glass mugs that were frosted in special machines... it is nothing like
it is today.

Even in the old A&W I once worked at (which has no other business in it) the
rootbear and cream soda are no longer made in the store.

The recipe that we made involved boiling bark chips that came in cheesecloth
like bags dissolving sugar and cooking the mix in a big vat before cooling it
down.  It does not taste the same now.  We used to be able to buy it by the
gallon in special gallon jugs that looked like barrels.

I miss that stuff... it was so good.
