============================
Hi Ruth,

-> I didn't, but the only language I took in college was German.

 RH> I took German and French.

I stayed with the one; that way I was able to get more art classes. A
minor was 12 hours; I think I had 18.

-> -> RH> Knowing quilters, I'm not surprised. I've heard the terms but

-> Figured some of the non quilters here would have a chuckle or two out of
-> them. Honey buns are cut the same as jelly rolls but only 1 1/2" wide.

 RH> I'm not sure what I'd do with a 1 1/2 inch strip, but knowing me I'd
 RH> find something.

Lots of uses for it but I won't elaborate here.

-> RH> bought the products. I'll bet Steve spent the time in chairs

-> He did. Started out in a basic chair at a table but after a while
-> switched to a comfy chair up front. If I'd not stopped when I did, he
-> might have fallen asleep.

 RH> Hmm, maybe you shouldn't have stopped. People who fall asleep in the
 RH> middle of the day generally need it.

No, I had a certain amount of money I wanted to spend. Tax brought it to
a bit over but Steve said "no problem" with that. Now to get designing.

-> Steve sometimes puts in a suggestion or two about my choices but usually
-> leaves it up to me. I'm a lot more color discriminatory than he is. I

 RH> That's true of a lot of men. My dad acted like he was color blind when
 RH> it came to clothes and fabric. It wasn't that he couldn't tell the
 RH> difference; he just didn't care that much.

Steve will usually vet his clothes choices thru me. He likes to use
basic color terms (eg, blue, instead of periwinkle, light blue instead
of robin's egg blue, etc) but I guess that's more typical of guys
anyway. His wardrobe has a lot of basic colors, with a few splashes of
brights, so he doesn't have too much of a problem putting an outfit
together.

-> got some batiks this time, thinking about doing some sunset/sunrise
-> quilts. I do my own cutting, much as it hurts me, as my mats have
-> grooves worn in them from my left handed cutter. If he were to cut
-> (right handed), it would mess up my set up.

 RH> Sounds like you need a new set just for him. I use a right-handed
 RH> cutter, but then I use rightie scissors too. It's weird, but I've
 RH> never used a scissor left-handed and would have to teach myself how.

I've got a right handed rotary cutter; he's used it a few times. I'd
rather cut out a whole project than have him do part; the slight
variations in his cutting vs mine would throw things off. I do have
only right handed scissors as I can't cut left handed either. There
were no left handed scissors in the early grades when I went to school;
we all had to cut right handed.

-> RH> We don't have any of those, and only a few Super Wal-Marts in the

-> But nice to have when you want to go to just one store.

 RH> That part is true, but if it's a Wal-mart it's probably worth going to
 RH> more than one. A lot of what they sell is such junk that even if they
 RH> treated their employees better I still wouldn't buy it.

No comment; Rachel used to work for one that treated her quite well.

-> None of the states I've lived in have had such rules. I can see CT
-> doing it tho. (G)

 RH> It's a bitty state, and each town makes its own rules. Mine has
 RH> ordinances that ban anything the size of a regular Wal-mart, never
 RH> mind the Super
 RH> ones. I do wish we had a Target though or something similar.

Sigh! How close to the border are you? Talking to Rachel today, we
bought the same style & color of slacks from Target.

-> Left overs usually are. Tonight was split shift eating again (me eat
-> before my class, Steve eat after his but before taking me), the Thursday
-> night norm for this semester. Had left over cole slaw, chicken sausage
-> an mixed grains/herbs dish, then popcorn and a square of TJ's chocolate
-> after class.

 RH> I'm not sure of the popcorn part. :-)

It was a cool night, late enough we wanted a munchie but nothing too
heavy. Made sense and hit the spot.

-> RH> But anticipation can be half the fun.

-> I' not doing much long term anticipation now, have to deal with the
-> short term busy-ness which can get quite so at times.

 RH> There is that.

Today--Farmer's Market, stopped to put more into the storage unit on the
way home. Home--lunch, stuff for a loaf of bread into machine (ended
up taking it out and hand finishing it), cut up veggies/meat for
goulash, then put it together all in about 4 hours. Finally finished
the morning paper about 5 pm. About half an hour later, did supper
prep, ate & cleaned up--another almost 2 hours. I'm trying to finish
Fido in the next half hour so I can iron a shirt for Steve and otherwise
get ready for Sunday.

-> RH> Then the squirrels and birds get rid of the evidence.

-> You would hope so anyway.

 RH> If they don't, there's always the compost pile. They disposed of a
 RH> pumpkin tofu cheesecake, so critters will eat darned near anything.

And you thought teen age boys were omnivourous. (G)

->  RH> a New York City reservoir.

-> A lot of them are in the area where I grew up. Saw recently that NYS
-> DOT has put up signs marking the town sites along the Pepactin Reservoir
-> roads.  Nice touch.

 RH> It just underlines how many there were.

True, but lets you not forget that they exsisted.

-> RH> chimes in that I'd forgotten I even had, and well you get the idea.

-> I know, all too well.

 RH> And then it brings along its buddies, the Ribbon Sisters.

They don't follow me home.
