============================
Hi Ruth,

->  RH> I took German and French.

-> I stayed with the one; that way I was able to get more art classes. A
-> minor was 12 hours; I think I had 18.

 RH> I'd always promised myself I'd take a crack at German, so when I got
 RH> to college and it was available I grabbed some.

Same here. High school only offered Spanish & Latin; I took the latter.

->  RH> I'm not sure what I'd do with a 1 1/2 inch strip, but knowing me
 RH> I'd
->  RH> find something.

-> Lots of uses for it but I won't elaborate here.

 RH> Ohio Star corners and all that?

Fence Rail pattern if you want a 4" finished block. That size looks good
on small quilts.

-> RH> middle of the day generally need it.

-> No, I had a certain amount of money I wanted to spend. Tax brought it to
-> a bit over but Steve said "no problem" with that. Now to get designing.

 RH> Hmmm, there is that problem.

The cash flow? It was left over birthday money.

-> basic color terms (eg, blue, instead of periwinkle, light blue instead
-> of robin's egg blue, etc) but I guess that's more typical of guys
-> anyway. His wardrobe has a lot of basic colors, with a few splashes of
-> brights, so he doesn't have too much of a problem putting an outfit
-> together.

 RH> Good idea - easier to avoid the scarecrow look.

And looks more like a professional than a slob.

-> RH> never used a scissor left-handed and would have to teach myself

-> I've got a right handed rotary cutter; he's used it a few times. I'd
-> rather cut out a whole project than have him do part; the slight
-> variations in his cutting vs mine would throw things off. I do have

 RH> Implying that one or the other of you can't cut a straight line, or at
 RH> least not the right one.

We can both cut a straight line; it's a case of ruler placement. I
consistantly place it on one part of the line on the cutting mat; he may
line it up on the other side of the line. Little "idiot" things like
that.

-> only right handed scissors as I can't cut left handed either. There
-> were no left handed scissors in the early grades when I went to school;
-> we all had to cut right handed.

 RH> I had one at home for a little while, but never at school. That might
 RH> be it.

Could be, depends on where you did more of your cutting, home or school,
when younger.

-> RH> treated their employees better I still wouldn't buy it.

-> No comment; Rachel used to work for one that treated her quite well.

 RH> Was that before or after Sam Walton died?

After--when she and David lived in Charleston, SC. She was going to
school (including student teaching) while working for them.

-> RH> ones. I do wish we had a Target though or something similar.

-> Sigh! How close to the border are you? Talking to Rachel today, we
-> bought the same style & color of slacks from Target.

 RH> Not very. It costs more in gas to get to Massachusetts or NY than it
 RH> does to pay the taxes.

It was a thought. Depends on how groceries are/aren't taxed in each
state as well.

-> RH> I'm not sure of the popcorn part. :-)

-> It was a cool night, late enough we wanted a munchie but nothing too
-> heavy. Made sense and hit the spot.

 RH> I ate some tonight at my church's coffeehouse, but not a lot.

As I had a couple of cups, max, the other night.

-> Today--Farmer's Market, stopped to put more into the storage unit on the
-> way home. Home--lunch, stuff for a loaf of bread into machine (ended
-> up taking it out and hand finishing it), cut up veggies/meat for
-> goulash, then put it together all in about 4 hours. Finally finished
-> the morning paper about 5 pm. About half an hour later, did supper
-> prep, ate & cleaned up--another almost 2 hours. I'm trying to finish
-> Fido in the next half hour so I can iron a shirt for Steve and otherwise
-> get ready for Sunday.

 RH> Like  I said.

Better busy than bored.

-> RH> If they don't, there's always the compost pile. They disposed of a
-> RH> pumpkin tofu cheesecake, so critters will eat darned near anything.

-> And you thought teen age boys were omnivourous. (G)

 RH> Teenaged boys might have eaten the cheesecake, but I doubt it.

If they were hungry enough, there'd be no stopping them. (G)

-> RH> It just underlines how many there were.

-> True, but lets you not forget that they exsisted.

 RH> Even though most people have.

Or never knew that they xesisted in the first place. Some of them went
under water when I was a toddler.

-> RH> And then it brings along its buddies, the Ribbon Sisters.

-> They don't follow me home.

 RH> With me they try, and some succeed.

No surprise there. (G)
