Okay, cheap Scotch has its place; I admit to have
enjoyed the likes of Cluny and even Duggan's Dew
in their proper places.

Now that's cheap.

I recently had Cluny with a splash of almost flat
club soda and a couple ice cubes at a friend's house;
enjoyed it for what it was but might have sent it back
at a bar for the flatness.

Chinese almond cookies
cat: airline, Hawaii
yield: 72

1 1/2 c Crisco
1 c sugar
1 egg
1/2 ts salt
1 ts almond extract
3 c flour
3/4 ts baking soda
Cream Crisco and sugar, add egg, then almond extract. Sift dry
ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Roll into balls. Press
down top and dot with red food coloring. Bake at 350 degrees
for 20 minutes. Makes about six dozen.
